What an incredible wrap-up to the Bay to Bay Charity Bike Ride! 🎉

At last week's Rotary meeting, we proudly presented the final cheque to the Manitoulin Health Centre (MHC). We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the net benefit to MHC from this year's event is an amazing $15,000!

A massive thank you to the Douglas A. Smith Family Foundation for their incredible generosity in making this possible, and a special thank you to Paula Fields, CEO of MHC, and Jeff Hietkamp, President of Gore Bay Rotary, for being part of this milestone presentation.

🚴✨ What an incredible day at the Bay to Bay Charity Bike Ride!

A massive thank you to all the riders, volunteers, and supporters who brought so much energy, enthusiasm, and great cheer to the course. Because of you, we pedaled with purpose and made a lasting difference for our community.

The Impact: Over $10,000 Raised for MHC!

Thanks to your generous support and participation, the event generated $7,500 in support of the Manitoulin Health Centre’s (MHC) Vital Visions campaign. Even better—thanks to a generous fund matching campaign sponsored by the Douglas A Smith Family Foundation, the total contribution will result in over $10,000 donated directly to the MHC!

Bay to Bay rolls out tomorrow, and there’s still time to choose your route, register and pedal with purpose! Whether you’re bringing the family, enjoying a scenic morning ride or chasing some serious kilometers, there’s an option for you:

🚴 39 km+ Island Challenger — 8:00 AM
🚴 30 km Coastline Cruise — 9:00 AM
🚴 7 km Family & Beginner Ride — 11:00 AM

All official routes start and finish at the Gore Bay Pavilion. Registration includes an event T-shirt, refreshments at Julia Bay Beach, and the community BBQ, closing ceremony and prize giveaways around noon!

Best of all, every kilometer helps us work toward our $15,000 goal for new ultrasound equipment at the Manitoulin Health Centre. 💙🧡💛

The Bay to Bay Charity Cycling Event rolls out from the Gore Bay Pavilion on August 8th—and there’s a route for every kind of rider:

🚲 7 km Family & Beginner Ride— 11:00 AM
🌊 30 km Coastline Cruise— 9:00 AM
💪 39 km+ Island Challenger— 8:00 AM

Registration is $40 with a T-shirt or $25 without, and kids under 12 ride FREE! Registration also includes the wrap-up Community BBQ and prize giveaways at noon.

A wonderful man and life long supporter of the Gore Bay community. Rest in peace Doug!

We lost a very special man today in Doug Smith. He was a very successful business man and a life long resident of Gore Bay who never forgot his Gore Bay roots. He was a major supporter of many community projects on Manitoulin and beyond. He helped those that needed help and was also one of my best friends. At 93 years of age he was a remarkable person, an amazing musician and an avid boater. I shall never forget him and the contribution he made to the Town of Gore Bay and beyond. We will all miss him very much.
