Set on Vancouver Island this critically acclaimed semi-autobiographical feature film has been praised for it’s emotional depth and exploration of memory and grief.

Directed by Sophy Romvari the story follows a family of six Hungarian immigrants who relocate to a new home on Vancouver Island. Their fresh start is upended by the increasingly dangerous and erratic behaviour of the oldest child. Memory is slippery and the question of what really happened is central to this powerful film.

A former piano prodigy turns from tuning fine pianos to being coerced into cracking safes for a criminal gang, turning a chill character drama into a high tension heist movie.

A big shout out to our Film Kicks volunteer group coordinated by Mandy Cantle. They curate a season of film selections chosen to present the best of Canadian and International films at the Golden Cinema.

Call out for musicians to play at the 2026 Holiday Craft Fair!

For decades now, the Fair is the kickoff to the Holiday season and the social event of the month. With more than 60 artists, artisans, and crafters, the Craft Fair brings in big crowds for a full weekend. It's a great gig to showcase your music and enjoy the community vibes.

Details:
Play a 3 hour set during market hours (Friday, Nov 27th - Sunday, Nov 29th)
Payment: $150 plus donations

Tomorrow we’re revealing the newest piece of public art in Golden created by a camp of youth and local artist Chris Pecora!

For 4 weeks, these young painters developed their idea, drew illustrations, and worked together to paint a masterpiece for everyone to enjoy.

They were asked things like: what do you love about Golden? And, what brings you joy?

Join us tomorrow to celebrate their artistic achievements.

Theme: Community, Connection & Mountain Life

Process: Submissions will be reviewed by a 5 person jury, one design concept will be selected.

This opportunity is open to:
- Emerging and established artists
- Preference will be given to artists living in Golden or Area A.
- Artists working in illustration, painting, graphic design, digital media, photography, or other visual arts practices
- Artists may submit individually or as a collaborative team.

Well, that's a wrap on Summer Kicks 2026! And what a season it was...

10 live concerts: 8 in Town, 2 in Area A
7 touring bands
15 local bands/artists
Nearly 4,000 attendees overall
Many dance moves made
Dozens and dozens of buttons created
Countless ice cream cones consumed

Here's to an amazing summer and a big HIP HIP to everyone who came out to the shows this season. We can't wait to do it again next year.
