Let us make it a gift for all communities to enjoy! 🇨🇭 🇨🇦 Edelweiss Village in Golden BC, Canada, is the historic home of the pioneering Swiss Mountain Guides and their families in the Rocky Mountains. In 2020, the property was for sale by its private owners. With no heritage protection in place, the site was at risk of being demolished. In 2022, we launched a major crowdfounding with the main pur

pose to purchase the property. Despite the incredible support and generous donations from the community, we did not succeed in raising enough funds. With the property on the market and time ticking, we realized that the only way to save the village is to partner in an advisory capacity with a for-profit group. The village was purchased in July 2023 by Montayne Real Estate Group. Thanks to the advocacy work by our foundation, the village is now saved from being torn down. We are working together with the new owner towards the preservation and restoration of the buildings to make sure the significant history is not forgotten. Our mission remains the same: To preserve and promote Edelweiss Village for present and future generations to explore, making it a gift for all communities to enjoy.

We recognize that they cultivated a deep and ongoing relationship with the mountains and nature for thousands of years prior to the Swiss Guides’ arrival. We acknowledge that the area is also home to the Métis Nation.

We’re still buzzing from an incredible weekend celebrating 125 years of Swiss Mountain Guides in the Canadian Rockies! 🎉 More than 500 of you joined us to honor the legacy and history of these remarkable pioneers.

From sold-out guided tours and the FeuzRun 🏃‍♀️, to a packed Civic Centre with inspiring speeches and music, and the first-ever Swiss Guides Conference, this celebration was truly one for the books! 📚

A huge THANK YOU to all our sponsors, partners, volunteers, and attendees who made this event possible. We couldn’t have done it without your support and dedication. 🙏

Thank you everyone who joined us in celebrating the 125th anniversary of Swiss Guides in Golden! The weekend isn't over yet though. If you'd like to learn more about Canadian-Swiss Guides and their impact on Mountain culture, please join use today at the Civic centre from 9-2.

Woodwood Pizzaria will be set up behind the Civic centre for anyone looking for a great lunch option. You do not have to attend the event to grab a pizza, but we encourage you to come on in!
