🧠🎉 THINK FAST, BLURT IT OUT! 🎉🧠

Get ready for some fast-paced fun at Gold River Community Services! We'll be playing BLURT! Trivia.

Think you can find the right word before the clock runs out? BLURT! challenges players to think quickly, listen carefully, and race to shout out the word that matches each definition!

📚 Learning has never been this much fun! BLURT! helps build vocabulary, strengthens word recognition, improves listening skills, and encourages quick thinking. Players practice recalling words under pressure, making connections between definitions and meanings, and building confidence with language — all while laughing, learning, and competing together!

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 It's a fantastic way to bring people together, challenge our brains, and discover that learning can be just as exciting as winning!

🏆 Fun, friendly competition and treat prizes are up for grabs!

Come join us at Gold River Community Services for some brain-teasing fun. You never know who will be the fastest to BLURT it out! 🤩

See you there!

🦃🔎 CAN WE SOLVE THE THANKSGIVING MYSTERY AS A GROUP IN TIME? 🔎🦃

Dear Thanksgiving guests:
Unfortunately, we need to cancel Thanksgiving dinner. We're sorry for the late notice. A thief has stolen our turkey!

NOT ON OUR WATCH!

Families will work together to uncover clues, solve puzzles, crack codes, read carefully, think critically, and piece together the mystery before time runs out! ⏰🔐
While everyone is having fun, they’ll also be building important literacy skills:

📖 Reading comprehension – understanding clues and written information
🧠 Critical thinking – figuring out what information matters
🔤 Vocabulary & language skills – exploring words, meanings, and clues
✏️ Writing & communication – sharing ideas and explaining solutions
🗣️ Teamwork & discussion – listening to others and communicating ideas
🔍 Problem-solving – making connections and thinking creatively
💡 Confidence – using literacy skills in a fun, hands-on way

Come join us for a Thanksgiving adventure where reading, thinking, and teamwork are the keys to solving the mystery!

See you there!

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

We honour the children who never came home from residential schools, the Survivors, and their families and communities.

Residential schools tried to take away Indigenous languages, stories and ways of knowing. As a literacy organization, we know that words, stories and language are our identity. Reconciliation includes listening to Indigenous voices and supporting the right to learn in and about one's own language and culture.

Today, we invite you to:

Wear orange
Read a book by an Indigenous author
Learn about Call to Action 80 and the history of residential schools
Take part in a local event in your community

If this day brings up difficult feelings, support is available 24/7:
Hope for Wellness Helpline: 1-855-242-3310
National Indian Residential School Crisis Line: 1-866-925-4419

09/28/2026

We will be closed on Wednesday, September 30 for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

This day honours the children who never returned home from residential schools, the survivors, and their families and communities. It is a time to listen, learn, and reflect on the ongoing work of reconciliation.

The Centre will reopen on Thursday, October 1st.
