Joseph's Kingsbridge Community (Kingsbridge) is a registered charity with the goal of providing a large multi use facility for the residents and visitors of rural Southwestern Ontario. Joseph's Kingsbridge Church left a large vibrant rural community without a venue to meet. Kingsbridge was established to purchase the former church and rectory in order to restore the historical buildings for commun

ity gatherings, performance opportunities, rural education and rental options. Kingsbridge believes in community involvement and rural revitalization and is funded by contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations, associations and public agencies. On April 30th, the Kingsbridge Centre was filled with energy and hope as the community came together for the first-ever Celebrate Life Fashion Show. The event was a stunning success, raising $11,204 in support of Wheels of Hope, a program of the Canadian Cancer Society. Wheels of Hope provides vital transportation to individuals undergoing cancer treatments, ensuring they stay connected to the care they need, which is especially essential for those who live in rural and remote areas. The purpose of this unique fashion show, was to highlight early cancer detection and screening. But the over arching theme of the show was to celebrate life and inspire hope - even when faced with a cancer diagnosis. Attendees were moved by the personal stories shared on the runway, and the evening was a powerful testament to the strength of this community. There were 22 models who participated—20 women and 2 men—each one a cancer survivor. The stunning outfits were provided by Schaefer’s Ladies Wear and Something Irresistible, both located in downtown Goderich. A special thank you to all the sponsors, volunteers, and participants who made this event unforgettable!

Many accounts of the events surrounding the Great Storm of November 1913 have been passed down among the people living along the shoreline of Lake Huron. Kingsbridge native, Rev. Major Mike Dalton, who was 11 years old at the time, shared his boyhood memory of the tragedy in his personal diaries. In 2006, Father Mike Dalton’s nephew, Brian Dalton, edited and illustrated his uncle’s diary and published a book titled, The Padre’s War Diary. Attached is a small excerpt from this book.
If you have a story in your family or community history about the Great Lakes Storm of 1913 we welcome you to share it.

The Great Storm runs June 5th, 6th, 12th & 13th at 8pm and June 7th & 14th at 2pm. Admission at the door only $20 adults, $10 students, 12 and under $5. Doors open 1 hour prior to show. Refreshments available. Wheelchair accessible building.
