❗𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡 𝗦𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗘 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗚𝗟𝗘𝗡 - 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘❗

🚶The Town has advised construction will begin shortly on an 800m Bruce Trail-style natural surface trail within the Meadows in the Glen Subdivision in Glen Williams. The trail will connect the existing stormwater pond access trail to the Credit Valley Footpath through the natural area behind Barraclough Boulevard, creating a continuous looped trail system within the neighbourhood.

🚶Work includes selective hazard tree and vegetation removal, construction of a 0.75 m-wide, 800 m-long natural surface footpath, and native tree planting to enhance the forested area and provide additional screening for adjacent residents. A Credit Valley Conservation permit has been obtained for this construction as it is within protected valley lands. Resident mailout notices are being issued along with on‑site signage.

❗𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗘𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗧 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗚𝗟𝗘𝗡 𝗤𝗨𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦❗
There were a number of questions posted by residents in response to the Construction Notice for the Sanitary Sewer work on Confederation St up to Mountain St., August - mid December 2026.

Here are the response obtained from the Town staff:

❓Question: How this will affect the cross walk at Prestons for when school is in? Will it still be accessible?

👉Response: "At this time, no full sidewalk closure has been identified in the approved Construction Management Plan. Pedestrian access is expected to be maintained where possible. Should temporary sidewalk closures or pedestrian detours be required to safely facilitate the works, these will be identified through the contractor's Traffic Control Plan and communicated to the public in advance."

❓Question: How will access to the Shelagh Law Parkette be affected? Will we be able to do garden maintenance and visit the parkette during this time?

👉Response: "No parkette closure is currently anticipated. Any temporary restrictions to park, pathway, or pedestrian access required to facilitate construction will be minimized, appropriately signed, and communicated in advance."

❓Question: Hopefully, they send notices door to door! Not everyone is online .

👉Response: "Advance notice shall be provided to affected residents within the project area. In addition, project updates and notifications will be communicated through the Town's digital communication platforms."

❓Question: I assume access to the homes along Confed will be available throughout the time the road is closed ? Remember, some of the residents rely on taxis and Activan. There needs to be consideration for these people.

👉Response "Local access to all residences will be maintained during both the tunnelling and open-cut portions of the project wherever possible. Where access restrictions are required to safely facilitate construction activities, advance notice will be provided to affected residents, and access will be managed accordingly throughout the duration of the works."

❓Question: Hopefully, the construction will be on the east side of Confederation to ensure properties , existing underground utilities and trees are not destroyed.

👉Response: "The works are generally located on the east side of Confederation Street and have been designed to minimize impacts to adjacent properties, utilities, and vegetation. Any areas disturbed during construction will be restored to a condition acceptable to the Town and in accordance with Town standards."

❓Question: And the residents of the Glen are again denied access to sanitary sewers by both the town & the region.

👉Response: "The developer is currently working with the Region to review servicing opportunities for affected properties along Confederation Street. Once a final approach has been established, the outcome and any available options will be communicated to affected residents."

❗𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗚𝗟𝗘𝗡 𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗧❗

📍The Glen Williams Estates (102 Confederation St.) Development project has reached the point where they are ready to proceed with construction of their work external to the development site. This work involves the installation of a sanitary sewer, the sewer will extend from the new street (Canvas Hill Circle), down Confederation St. to Main St. and into the Halton Region sanitary pumping station located beside the Glen Williams Ball park entrance. Full project duration is estimated as August 4, 2026 to Mid December 2026.

📍There is about 520 meters of sewer to be installed, 370m will be installed by trenchless micro tunnelling and 150m will be installed by traditional open cut. The work will start at the intersection of Main St. and Confederation St. off the travelled road on Town land where the Cenotaph is located. They will begin by tunneling from this area towards the pumping station. Once this is complete, they will turn and tunnel up Confederation St. and then finish the last 150m of installation on Confederation St. by open cut.

📍Protection hoarding and work compound setup has just begun in the Cenotaph Park area. Once the compound is setup the construction will commence. Provided below is a highlight of the work schedule provided by the Contractor. Please note these are approximate dates.

👉August 4 to Mid November 2026 - Land around Cenotaph to be occupied (further discussion required re: November 11)
👉August 31 to Mid September 2026 – Entrance to 511 & 515 Main Street to be closed. Alternate access to lower parking lot to be provided. Park entrance to remain open but will be restricted to one lane at times.
👉October 26 to Mid November 2026 – Confederation Street Closed from Main Street to Mountain Street.

📍The Town's Public Works Department will be completing work along that section of Confederation St. from the Shelagh Law Parkette to Mountain St., to improve the gravel shoulder.

𝗕𝗟𝗢𝗪𝗡 𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗬 𝗢𝗡 𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗗𝗔 𝗗𝗔𝗬!

👏Thank you to the Glen Town Hall Canada Day team, all the volunteers and all the wonderful vendor booths, parade floats and food trucks for yet another fabulous Canada Day in the Glen!

🌞It was a scorcher, but the crowds came early, determined to still enjoy the festivities. Breakfast was packed full of fun-loving kids, and their adults, the sand pit was high and spirits were too. Neighbours gathered close in the shade, and found connection in the heat and sweat!

🎉The parade had a full set of flaming red fire trucks (to every 2year old's delight), local officials, and a plethora of local clubs! Even the author learnt a thing or two about the happenings in and around the Glen!

💨Mother nature, despite her teasing us with the heat, at least waited until everything was packed up before blowing up a storm. The giant old trees downed on Mountain St, power flickers and dust making it look like a scene from Dune made for a dramatic finish to an otherwise successful and joyful Canada Day in the Glen.

🫶Thank you again to the Canada Day team and to everyone who made the day special!

🏆First place goes to 32 Confederation St., with 201 Canadian flags and other assorted decorations to celebrate not only Canada Day but also to celebrate the founding of our hamlet. 201 years this year! Congratulations Henry Scully.
