There was a time when the milk truck had a name on the side you recognized.
When your mother sent you to the Leblancs for eggs and they told you to bring the carton back next week.
When the beef on the table was raised by a MacNeil you saw every Sunday.
And summer meant berry buckets, dirt under your nails and salt in your hair.

Somewhere along the way, we lost a bit of that, but that’s what we’re wanting to build back.

Starting Victoria Day Weekend and running through the end of September, the Georges River Farmers Market is opening with one clear purpose:

Keep it close to the land.
Keep it close to home.

We’re looking for the growers.
The farms raising beef, pork, lamb, and poultry.
The families gathering eggs at sunrise.
The dairies producing fresh milk, cheese, and butter.
The honey harvesters and tree tappers.
The flower growers filling porch steps with colour and starting seedlings.
The early-morning bakers with flour on their sleeves.

The people whose work follows the seasons here in Cape Breton.

This market is designed to be consistent and dependable for our community. We want families to know that when they come each week, the same farms and familiar faces will be there.

Because around here, you should still be able to shake the hand that feeds you.

This is a full-season opportunity, and we’ll be finalizing our summer lineup by the end of April.

If you grow it, raise it, harvest it, or bake it locally, we’d be honoured to have you join us.

Because this is our home and this land still feeds us.

❤️ Our hearts are full this Valentine’s Day! ❤️

Georges River Markets wants to send a huge thank you to our incredible community for making our kids’ dances so full of life, laughter, and love. Seeing the hall packed with smiling faces, little feet dancing, and so much joy reminded us how special this community truly is.

The kids are our future — and nights like these show just how bright that future shines. 🌟

A special thank you goes out to The Salty Swig and George’s Country Convenience for their support and perseverance in putting smiles on everyone’s faces and making the night extra sweet with their goodies and treats! 🍬☕️

We’re so grateful for each and every one of you for bringing life back into our hall once again — last night was JAM PACKED and absolutely unforgettable!!
