Friendship Club of Gatineau

Friendship Club of Gatineau Community Activities
for english speaking seniors The Friendship Club is the only English club for seniors in Gatineau. The Club was established in 1991.

The group meets once a week and organizes trips and other activities for its members. Anyone age 50 or older may join. After a period of 10 years and having reached the age of 80, members become life members. The Club emphasizes friendship and its main purpose is to foster good mental and physical health. We also emphasize feeling younger than we really are and this is reflected in our activities.

Membership averages between 195 and 210 members. The Club meets each Thursday in the St. Aloysius Parish hall from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and holds special events for New Year’s, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, Armistice Day, and Christmas. We also hold regular military whist card parties each 1st Wednesday of the month. To become a member simply come any Thursday and sign up. For more info please contact Moe Lambert at 819 664-8003.

Is Life Always Worth Living?

A conversation on aging, meaning, and a life worth living until our last breath
“I don’t want to be a burden.”
Maybe you’ve heard someone say it. Perhaps you’ve thought it yourself.

Despite the countless ways we have cared for others throughout our lives, the fear of becoming a burden can quietly take root as illness and aging appear. Does life still hold meaning in suffering? What might one more shared moment with someone mean to them?

Filled with stories and reflection, this workshop will help us engage these difficult questions with faith, compassion, and honesty — because this touches every one of us, either now or in the future.

Together we will explore:
How our lives continue to have meaning amid illness, disability, dependence, suffering, and loss.
Why living until natural death can become a gift of hope for others.
How the way a story ends changes the meaning of every page.
