On Orange Shirt Day this year, Phyllis has a request of all Indigenous and non-indigenous peoples to stand upon mother earth and speak out loud the names of all 150,000 children who attended residential schools in Canada. It is up to all of us to honour the lives and the memory of our ancestors and our kin by speaking their names into the world today. They will never be forgotten.

On September 30th we observe and to acknowledge the truths from residential schools in Canada, honour the survivors, and grieve the children who never got to come home. Ending violence against women and gender based violence means eradicating colonialism and white supremacy. Today is a day to listen to Indigenous peoples, reflect on their truths, and commit ongoing support for Indigenous sovereignty and self-determination. 🧡🤍
