The Lands & Resource Department would like to share a fisheries update to GRFN members. This post is a follow up to the January Lands & Resources Department community events.
The GRFN Lands & Resource Department is recommending the removal of the Upper Echo River dam. The attached infographic describes the history of the Upper Echo River, the cultural and ecological impacts of the dam, and the benefits of removing this dam. This infographic is informed by a detailed report titled "Paswe' a Ziibi (Echo River): History, Impacts, & a Path Towards Environmental Reconciliation". This report is available upon request from the GRFN Lands & Resources Department.
