Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce The Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit organization made up of businesses, professionals, community groups, and interested individuals.

"To promote and improve the economic climate of the area, to support the needs and concerns of the business community and to enhance the civic and social well being of the community." Originally founded in 1959 to encourage new industries to provide employment for our citizens. Today we currently have over 300 members. It acts as a unified voice for business, enabling its membership to accomplish

collectively what no one person can easily do individually. The Chamber is a vehicle for action through which businesses can work together for the overall good of the communities we serve. The Chamber is involved at all levels of government and your support means the Chamber can lobby municipal, provincial, and federal government. We seek solutions to today’s social and economic problems and then we work towards the implementation of these solutions.

This past Wednesday, we hosted the first of our Lunch & Learn sessions for business owners on Fogo Island and Change Islands!

We had a welcome from Mayor Andrew Shea followed by presentations from the Town of Fogo Island, the Department of Jobs, Growth and Rural Development, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, the Atlantic Edge Credit Union, and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation. Sheila's Homestyle Catering and Uncle Benny's Takeout delivered a delicious meal and desserts for our participants.

HAPPENING TOMORROW!

The Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce invites all businesses on Fogo Island and Change Islands to take part in the first in our series of Lunch and Learns on Fogo Island, featuring our government partners and local support groups. This event will cover a number of topics for businesses like:

- Funding Opportunities
- Support Programs
- Tourism Opportunities

Join us for a FREE lunch and to network with your peers and partners. This event will take place at the Fogo island VIC, Highway 333, Man'O'War Cove Road, on Wednesday, June 17, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Next week, NLOWE will be holding a Member Networking Event hosted by Rayann Crane from the Lumsden Beach Company. This event will be held at the Olde Shoppe Public House at 5 School Crescent, Newtown, on June 23 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm.

This is a relaxed, come-as-you-are gathering that is open to members, non-members, and anyone who supports business in the area. You’ll have the chance to connect, try a selection of new menu favorites, and take part in a guided tour of the Barbour Living Heritage Village — a cultural gem worth exploring. There will also be a couple of giveaways along the way.

This Provincial Immigrant Retention Survey aims to better understand the experiences, challenges, and opportunities faced by newcomers across the province. Your feedback will help inform sustainable retention strategies and programs and services that support integrating and retaining newcomers in NL.

If you know someone who may be eligible, feel free to share the survey with them. Responses will remain anonymous.

Participants who complete the survey can enter a draw to win one of two $250 gift cards. The draw will take place after the survey closes on June 30.
