We’re excited to share the launch of Coaching Leadership, Equity & Respect (CLEAR), a youth violence prevention program being delivered across Newfoundland and Labrador through a partnership between the provincial Violence Prevention Initiative and Hockey NL.

Coaches have an incredible opportunity to shape the culture of their teams and make a lasting difference in the lives of young athletes. CLEAR supports positive team environments by addressing topics such as healthy relationships, consent, mental health, dating violence, and positive communication.

Together, we’re working to ensure that every young athlete feels safe, respected, and included, both on and off the ice.

The Journey Project will be providing legal support navigation at the Gander Women’s Centre on October 19, 2026. This amazing community resource provides confidential support to individuals who have experienced sexual violence and/or intimate partner violence in navigating their experience with any legal system. I was fortune enough to spend the last 2 days in St. John’s with fellow Violence Prevention Executive Directors at the Women and Gender Equality training.

We wore our orange shirts and pins as a small but meaningful reminder that Every Child Matters, and that reconciliation requires all of us to continue learning, listening, reflecting, and taking action.

Im grateful to be surrounded by colleagues who are committed to creating safer, more inclusive communities and to continuing this important work together.

A heartfelt thank you to Kikmanaq; our family; our friends; Indigenous Cultural Revival Association for helping bring this meaningful event together. ❤️

94 tulip bulbs were planted to represent the 94 Calls to Action. Each bulb was planted by different hands, coming together to create something that will grow and bloom for our community.

The symbolism of so many people gathering to take part is a beautiful reminder that reconciliation takes all of us. It takes many different people, perspectives, and hands working together to create meaningful change.

🧡 Planting for Reconciliation 🧡

Tomorrow evening, we will come together to plant 94 orange tulips—one for each of the 94 Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.

These tulips will return each spring as a lasting reminder of the work that remains and our shared responsibility to listen, learn and take meaningful action toward reconciliation.

Please join us on September 29 from 6–7 p.m. at Cobb’s Pond Rotary Park as we plant together in honour of Truth and Reconciliation. 🌷

We’ve had people make comments to us recently that they’re unsure of their place in Truth and Reconciliation because they’re not Indigenous and don’t want to overstep.

But reconciliation needs everyone.

For non-Indigenous people, that can mean learning the truth, acknowledging past harms, listening to Indigenous voices, and recognizing that Indigenous people are still here — as equal and valued members of our communities.

You don’t have to be Indigenous to take part. Listen, learn, show up, speak up, and help move reconciliation forward.
