Trail work is starting today on the next section of the T’Railway between Trailside and Beaverpond.

Work will include ditching, Culvert replacement, vegetation control, and surface repairs to improve drainage, safety, and overall trail conditions.

Trail users should expect construction activity in the area. Please slow down, obey posted signage, use caution around work zones, and be prepared to stop.

This work is being completed with support from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency Government of Newfoundland and Labrador Trans Canada Trail , and the Discovery Trail Snowmobile Association. Thank you to all of our funding partners for their continued support of the T’Railway.

Protecting What Supports the Trail
Work begins August 4, 2026

Not every trail improvement is easy to see.

Work is underway to stabilize the centre pier of the Terra Nova River bridge. Much of this work is taking place below the bridge, around the waterline, and underwater, so the finished project may not look dramatically different from the trail.

However, this work is essential. The pier supports the bridge, and protecting both the visible and underwater portions now will help prevent more serious damage, costly repairs, or a future closure.

Trail users may experience short delays while the work is underway. Please use caution, obey all posted signage, follow the direction of workers, and be prepared to stop.

Sometimes the most important infrastructure work is the work you cannot see. By strengthening what is underneath the bridge, we are helping protect the crossing above it for years to come.

Before and After: Bridge Improvements on the Gaff Topsails

Four bridges along the Gaff Topsails section of the Newfoundland T’Railway have received much-needed repairs and upgrades.

This work will improve safety, protect these important trail connections, and provide a better experience for everyone travelling this iconic section of the T’Railway.

The project was completed in partnership with Trans Canada Trail, with additional support from revenue generated through our non-resident trail pass program.

Important Notice for Cabin Owners

T’Railway Upgrades Between Whitbourne and Clarenville

The Newfoundland T’Railway Council, a partner of Parks NL, will be completing upgrades on several sections of the T’Railway between Whitbourne and Clarenville over the coming weeks.

The entire route will not be worked on at the same time. Crews will move from one section to another as the project progresses.

Work will include grading, trail surface improvements, culvert installation and ditching to improve drainage.

We understand that many cabin owners use the T’Railway to access their properties. Every effort will be made to keep access open and minimize delays. However, short delays may occur while heavy equipment is working in your area.

Some cabin driveways or access points may need to be adjusted or ditched so water can flow away from the trail. This work is not intended to restrict cabin access. Proper drainage helps prevent washouts, protects the trail and helps maintain safe, reliable access for years to come.

Cabin owners are encouraged to confirm that their access point is approved and has proper drainage.

Please use caution when travelling through work areas. Stay alert, follow all posted signage, and expect short delays while crews complete this important work.
