Please note that this is our last week of summer hours (Aug 31-Sept 3). Our Food Bank will be closed on Monday, Sept 7 for Labour Day and will reopen on Tuesday, Sept 8 at 1:00 pm.

Please remember that appointments are required in advance by calling the Gander & Area Food Bank. You must call in advance of the day you would like an appointment as fitting clients in at the last minute is no longer possible with the ever increasing demand for services.

Our charity is so grateful for the kind support we receive every day. Our Food Bank Coordinator, Kevin, was delighted to meet Leslie Richardson recently when she stopped by with a thoughtful donation.

Leslie was part of the CBDC Youth Ventures Basketball Tournament this summer. Their youth basketball event selected our clients to benefit from their efforts and generously donated $461 along with 28 pounds of food. Fabulous! Thanks so much to all who participated and organized the tournament.

If you need to visit the Gander & Area Food Bank this summer, please contact us at 709-651-3663. If you happen to reach our voicemail, leave a clear message with your phone number and someone will get back to you.

Our clients can visit our charitable organization for food assistance one time per month. Every time you need to visit you will need to book an appointment. For the appointment bring along your valid ID and some grocery bags. Our charity will provide one hamper per residential address. Individuals and families may receive monthly assistance from one of either the Gander & Area Food Bank or from the Salvation Army Food Bank.

If you’ve never been to see us before and find yourself in need of assistance, the process is the same but you will complete an application form with our volunteers on your first visit. You will need a government issued photo ID (that has not expired) and which shows your current street address (PO Box is acceptable for applications).

Our Board Chair, Wince Howse, has recruited another summer visitor to help out at the Food Bank. We have a feeling people may stop visiting Wince because they are being put to work! 🙂 😂

Jason Stuckless dropped in to lend an extra hand on a busy evening at the Gander & Area Food Bank. Jason’s usual job is with GENOA, a Marine Design company in Mount Pearl. Thanks for your help Jason, our charity sure appreciates your volunteerism!

Here at the Gander & Area Food Bank, we have much to be grateful for all year round. This summer we are grateful to have two wonderful students that are part of our team, at least for a while. (L-R): Our summer grant student is Julia Richardson and our summer volunteer student is Erin Pinsent.

Both young ladies are tremendous assets to our charity during the busy summer months when several of our fall, winter & spring volunteers take a much needed break.
