We are back online!! While on holidays I ran into a glitch with the page and it was shut down for "security" reasons by Meta. My apologies! After some research, I managed to get it back!! And its SNOWING! The plan is to track tomorrow, and I will update the page in the morning to confirm! 😀😄

The tall outhouse next to the day use shelter at Champion Lakes Park will be closed for the remainder of the season due to damage. Please use the new accessible toilet on the beach for the remainder of the season. Thank you

Tracking was done Tuesday Jan 13 on main trails. We had about 4 inches of fresh snow!

The day has come! Tracking was done today! The 2nd Lake trail, campground and Huff and Puff trail were tracked today!

Today our strong volunteers were up at 8 to get out and check the snow conditions at Champion Lakes. They got the kiosk set and pushed up the burm. Snow conditions were not good, the snow was saturated and the weather was raining. Then checking conditions on the trails, they came across MULTIPLE downed trees, so for the next 4 hours they chain sawed to remove the trees from the roads along the trails and through the campground. We still can’t track, we need more snow and a drop in temperature, 😓😓

Just about there!!! the beautiful snow overnight could be the difference we have been waiting for!! The groomers will be out as soon as they deem there is enough snow to support the snow cats. we will keep everyone posted!

We have had a lot of enquiries as to when the club will open the trails. We're not quite there yet. We need a good base to build the berm to block vehicles from driving on the trails, as well as a thick enough base to support the weight of the cats. Soon we hope. It looks like there's more snow in the forecast. ❄️❄️

We would like to inform the members and the public that the ski club was the victim of a break in and theft from our snow cat storage shed located near the parking lot by the trail head. Our entire recently installed solar system and inverter, plus the batteries from two ski cats, as well as some smaller items, (fuel and gas cans, trail cams) were taken. The building was also damaged, the thieves cut a hole in a wall in order to gain access. This is a huge loss for the club, and financially a big hit, as our insurance deductible is quite high! Because its summer season , we do not go up to the shed on a regular basis, so we cannot pinpoint exactly when this happened, but it was discovered the first week of September. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, or saw anything suspicious around that time, please contact the club president Dave, at 250-368-7104. This matter has also been reported to the RCMP.

Due to the contractor needing to get into
the campground for scheduled work and maintenance, we have had to remove the kiosk from the trail head and the road to the lake and campground will be plowed, This will conclude the season for the year. A big thank you to all our members and volunteers for a great season!

This morning Monday March 17, the trackers were up and set the tracks for the main road to the second lake and through the campground. The road up to the trail head isn't great, we're going to try getting in touch with YRB to let them know the road needs attention.
