Today was a great day.

It was my first Sunday back at Rusagonis Baptist Church in a couple of weeks. The last two Sundays were spent at Village of Hope Canada attending a baptism service for family friends and others in the program, and the following week at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church where I had the privilege of seeing both my friend, Nic from Philomena Farms and a new friend, Eric get baptized.

God is moving. God is working. It is amazing to witness.

Today at Rusagonis Baptist Church, the congregation honored Mrs. Wendy, who faithfully dedicated 22 years of service to God as the Children's Church Minister. Yes, tears were shed, but they were tears of joy, gratitude, and countless wonderful memories shared by the congregation. Thank you Wendy!

Following a meaningful communion service and worship, Pastor Brent delivered a powerful sermon on Esther, even making his directorial debut! LOL. (If you weren't there, check out the sermon on the RBC page and you'll understand what I mean.)

After the service, everyone was invited to stay for a BBQ and, of course...

WE GOT CAKE! 🎂

I couldn't stay long, however, because my afternoon was spent visiting Dale.

Now, who is Dale?

If you've followed this page for a while, you may remember him as the unhoused gentleman who played guitar for us at St. John's Shelter in downtown Fredericton.

Well... Dale is now housed! 🏠

He invited us over for coffee.

We arrived to a warm welcome and a quick tour of his one-bedroom apartment. We surprised him with shepherd's pie, and Nic from Philomena Farms brought a cooler full of farm-raised meat to stock his freezer, along with fresh eggs. Nic's mother also sent along homemade rolls.

Dale was incredibly grateful.

We shared a meal, fellowship, and conversation for several hours, which naturally turned into Dale picking up his guitar and playing song after song for us.

The last two songs became songs about Jesus, and before long, tears began to flow.

Dale then suggested that each of us read a Scripture. We took turns sharing from God's Word, followed by a closing prayer from Eric.

At one point, Dale shared that he felt a sense of community, belonging, and trust with the group. He asked if we could make these gatherings a regular thing and invite others next time.

His only request?

"Bring more chairs." 😂

Today was a reminder that ministry is often found in the simple moments—sharing a meal, listening to someone's story, worshipping together, and being present.

What began as a visit over coffee became fellowship, worship, prayer, and community.

For that, I am incredibly grateful.

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together... but encouraging one another." — Hebrews 10:24-25

It was a great day, and I was blessed to share it with friends.

We are excited to share that the cooler has officially arrived!

This week, as we begin our June outreach efforts, this cooler will immediately become an important part of our ministry. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to our recent fundraiser and helped make this purchase possible.

When we first shared the need, our community responded with generosity, compassion, and support. Because of your donations, encouragement, and prayers, we were able to purchase a cooler that will greatly improve our ability to serve Fredericton's unhoused community.

This cooler will allow us to safely store sandwich supplies and prepared food, ensuring that the meals we distribute remain fresh and safe. It will also enable us to provide cold bottled water, Gatorades, and other beverages during the hot summer months. For those living outdoors, access to cold drinks can make a significant difference during periods of extreme heat.

What may look like a simple piece of equipment is actually a valuable ministry tool. It will help us better care for those we serve while increasing the effectiveness of our outreach efforts. Every sandwich delivered, every cold drink handed out, and every conversation shared is another opportunity to show Christ's love in a practical way.

This cooler is a reminder that God continues to provide through His people.

"And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." — Philippians 4:19

We want to once again thank our friends, churches, veterans, businesses, and community members who contributed to this fundraiser. Your generosity is already making a difference and will continue to impact lives throughout the summer and beyond.

We are excited to put this cooler to work and continue serving our unhoused neighbours with dignity, compassion, and the love of Christ.

Thank you for partnering with Upon This Rock Ministry. Together, we are making a difference—one meal, one conversation, and one act of kindness at a time.

(27 May 2026)

Today, we want to recognize and celebrate the incredible work that Valerie and Nic of Philomena Farms are doing within our community.

Once every month, Philomena Farm provides a fresh meal for "Under the Tent" in Fredericton, helping to feed members of our unhoused community with nutritious, locally grown food. Their commitment to serving others goes far beyond simply providing a meal. They are investing in people, building relationships, and demonstrating what genuine compassion looks like.

In a world where it can be easy to look the other way, Valerie and Nic continually choose to serve. Through the fruits of their labour, they share the blessings of their farm with those who need it most. The food they provide nourishes bodies, but their kindness, generosity, and presence nourish hearts as well.

At Upon This Rock Ministry, we are incredibly grateful that they invited us to come alongside them, help serve, and engage with those attending these meals. It has been a blessing to witness firsthand the fellowship, encouragement, and sense of community that is created around the table. Some of the most meaningful conversations happen when people gather together to share a meal, and we are honoured to be part of those moments.

Philomena Farms demonstrates that ministry can happen in many ways. Sometimes it looks like planting seeds, tending a garden, harvesting crops, preparing a meal, and sharing it freely with others. Their servant hearts are a powerful testimony of Christ's love in action.

"Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth." — 1 John 3:18

Thank you, Valerie and Nic, for your faithful service, your generosity, and your unwavering commitment to your community. Thank you for using the blessings God has entrusted to you to bless others. Your example reminds us all that when we share what God has given us, lives are changed and communities are strengthened.

May God continue to bless Philomena Farms, your family, your ministry, and the work of your hands.

Monday night, after we finished delivering food bags throughout Fredericton, something truly special happened.

As many of our unhoused friends were beginning to head back to their shelters by the river or returning to the St. John’s Shelter for the night, our friend came out to fulfill a promise he had made to us. Carrying his guitar, he stood with us and began to play “Amazing Grace” into the evening air.

As the words echoed through the night, there was a quiet peace that settled over everyone gathered there. Smiles appeared, conversations slowed, and for a few moments the hardships of life seemed lighter. “Amazing Grace” is more than just a song — it is a reminder that no one is beyond God’s love, mercy, redemption, and grace.

What touched us most was that he remembered his promise and followed through. That act alone spoke volumes about trust, friendship, and community being built through these outreach nights.

Moments like this remind us that ministry is not only about handing out food or supplies. It is also about fellowship, encouragement, prayer, music, compassion, and reminding people that they are seen, valued, and never forgotten by God.

“My chains are gone, I’ve been set free.” Those words carried so much meaning tonight for many people standing there.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18

We are deeply thankful for evenings like this and for every person who brings hope, kindness, and light into the lives of others.

Philomena Farms are at it again! Come out, support and share this incredible community event being hosted by Valerie and Nic from Philomena Farms.

On Saturday, May 30th, they are once again opening their hearts and serving their community by offering a FREE BBQ meal at the Belleisle Community Center from 4–6 PM.

This is more than just a meal — it is a beautiful example of compassion, generosity, fellowship, and neighbours coming together to care for one another. Valerie and Nic continually go above and beyond to support both their local community and the unhoused community throughout Fredericton, and we are so thankful for their servant hearts.

If you are in the area, we encourage you to come out, enjoy a meal, connect with others, and support this wonderful event. Their kindness and dedication to helping others is truly inspiring.

“Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” — Romans 12:13

Thank you, Philomena Farms, for continuing to be such a blessing to so many people. May God continue to bless the work of your hands, your farm, and your hearts for serving others.

Today we want to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to Ed and his incredible team of volunteers from Rusagonis Baptist Church who faithfully serve our unhoused community every single Thursday.

Week after week, Ed and his team come together in the afternoon to prepare bottled water, Gatorades, sandwiches, and homemade cookies that are carefully packed and bagged for delivery later that evening throughout various Fredericton locations. Their commitment, sacrifice, and servant hearts are a true reflection of Christ’s love in action.

These volunteers give freely of their time, energy, and compassion after long days of work and responsibilities of their own, simply because they care about people who are hurting and struggling. They show up consistently, quietly serving behind the scenes, helping ensure that members of our unhoused community receive food, encouragement, kindness, and human connection.

The unhoused community regularly expresses their gratitude and thanks for Ed and his 12 volunteers. These acts of love do not go unnoticed. A sandwich, a cold drink, or a homemade cookie may seem simple to some, but to someone facing hardship, it can be a reminder that they are seen, valued, remembered, and loved.

Their willingness to serve is a beautiful example of living out our faith through action and compassion.

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” — Mark 10:45

Thank you, Ed, and every volunteer at Rusagonis Baptist Church for your faithfulness, generosity, humility, and servant hearts. Your dedication is making a real difference in the lives of so many people throughout our community.

May God richly bless each of you for the love you continue to pour into others.
