One conversation. One connection. One career changed. The CAMEA Mentorship Link is built on the simple but powerful idea that we grow stronger when we learn from one another.

Through meaningful, peer-to-peer conversations grounded in lived experience, the Mentorship Link connects executive assistants and administrative professionals across Canada in supportive, confidential dialogue.

Tina Lee is the Executive Assistant to the Chief Administrative Officer for the Regional Municipality of Durham, ON and brings with her 24 years of municipal experience and a strong foundation in governance, Council-CAO relations, and organizational leadership.

Known for her professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous learning, Tina has built extensive expertise across multiple areas of local government and is a strong advocate for the CAMEA Mentorship Link and the value it brings to members.

CAMEA Tip of the Month: Build Your Backup Plan Before You Need It.

Taking time off shouldn’t come with stress or constant check-ins. For many Executive Assistants in local government, stepping away can feel challenging—but it doesn’t have to be. The key to truly unplugging and recharging is having a strong backup plan in place before you leave.

Start by identifying who will support your core responsibilities and ensure they have the tools and information they need to succeed. Simple resources like shared calendars, checklists, and clear documentation can make all the difference. Ongoing cross-training throughout the year also helps build confidence—for both you and your team—so coverage feels seamless when the time comes.

Most importantly, trust your team and set clear expectations before you go. A well-prepared plan not only allows you to enjoy your time away, but it also strengthens your organization’s resilience and teamwork. Remember: taking a break isn’t a luxury—it’s essential for your health, and a solid backup plan makes it possible.
