As we celebrate Ghanaโ€™s ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ญIndependence, letโ€™s take a look at the Ashanti talking drum.

The fontonfrom, also known as the Talking Drum, is used to communicate royal messages in Ashanti tribal settings.

The Fontomfrom provides music for ceremonies honouring Ashanti chiefs and royal processions. The fontomfrom is also used to recite proverbs or replicate patterns of speech at most royal gatherings or durbars.

The energetic polyrhythms created with these drums can be extremely complex and is usually thunderous, given the size and purposes of the drums.

Ramadan Mubarak to our Muslim community!

As the blessed month of Ramadan begins, the New Brunswick African Association extends warm wishes to all Muslim individuals, families, and communities observing this sacred time.

May this holy month be filled with peace, reflection, spiritual renewal, compassion, and unity. Ramadan reminds us of the values of generosity, gratitude, patience, and caring for one another โ€” principles that strengthen our communities and bring us closer together.

We recognize and celebrate the rich diversity of our African, Black, and multicultural Muslim communities whose faith, resilience, and contributions continue to enrich our province.

May your fasting and prayers be accepted, your homes be filled with blessings, and your hearts with hope and joy.

Ramadan Kareem!
