Rose He is a 2nd year electrical engineering student at the University of New Brunswick. She was first introduced to environmentalism when she chose the topic of fast fashion for a public speaking competition. Since then, Rose has been a passionate climate activist, founding the UNB Students for Sustainability Club, leading the UNB fossil fuel divestment movement, collaborating with the UNBSU to deliver an open letter advocating for alternative investing options, and organizing climate strikes with Fridays for Future Fredericton and the Conservation Council. When she isn't fiddling around with circuits or sustainability, she enjoys biking around Fredericton trails and supporting local restaurants.

Virtually all aspects of physiology and behaviour are influenced by the circadian system. I am interested in what happens to the brain and body when an individual’s circadian rhythms are not in synch with their environment. Much of my focus has been on trying to understand the interplay between memory and circadian rhythms. Primarily why circadian rhythm disruption is harmful to declarative memory. Other interests lie in the contribution of circadian rhythm disruption to the etiology of various diseases. In my laboratory, we use both qualitative and quantitative techniques to assess circadian rhythms in humans. Including, physiological variables such as hormone concentration, and core-body temperature. We will investigate the influence of the circadian system on mood, aggression, cognition, sleep, brain activity, aging, and various diseases.

NEW CONFERENCE DATE ALERT

We are ecstatic to say that our theme for the online 2022 TEDxUNB conference is Complexity Made Simple!

A lot of problems today are very nuanced and are comprised of many factors that make them appear daunting to those on the outside.

With our conference theme “Complexity Made Simple”, we hope to present complex issues in a way that makes the topic approachable to audiences without subtracting any of the complexity and importance from the issue at hand.

Watch out for more on our Facebook and Instagram pages about the online conference, delegate applications, and speaker nominations!

We cannot wait to share an amazing opportunity with you!
