Daniel Lanois’ fingerprints are all over some of the biggest and most influential musical projects of the last few decades! Here are ten projects you didn't know he produced:
1. Red Dead Redemption 2 - Produced the game's original vocal soundtrack, including "That's the Way It Is," "Cruel World," and "Table Top."
2. The Killers – Battle Born (2012) - Lanois co-produced and co-wrote key tracks such as "The Way It Was," "Heart of a Girl," and "Be Still." This marked the band’s first songwriting collaboration with an outsider.
3. U2 – The Joshua Tree (1987) - Co-produced the landmark album featuring "Where the Streets Have No Name," "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For," an "With or Without You."
4. Bob Dylan – Time Out of Mind (1997) - Produced Dylan's Grammy-winning comeback album, including "Love Sick" and "Not Dark Yet."
5. Peter Gabriel - Lanois and Gabriel formed a legendary producer-artist partnership, collaborating on Gabriel's 1986 pop masterpiece So and its 1992 follow-up Us.
6. Neil Young – Le Noise (2010) - Recorded and co-produced the acclaimed solo at Lanois's home in Los Angeles without traditional overdubs.
7. Willie Nelson – Teatro (1998) - Produced the record, infusing it with cinematic textures by recording live inside an abandoned movie theater in California.
8. Emmylou Harris – Wrecking Ball (1995) - Produced the Grammy-winning album that transformed Harris' sound and is widely regarded as one of the greatest country albums ever made.
9. Robbie Robertson – Robbie Robertson (1987) - Produced the former Band guitarist's acclaimed solo debut, featuring collaborations with U2 and Peter Gabriel.
10. Brian Eno - Lanois collaborated extensively with this legendary producer on U2's biggest albums and other groundbreaking ambient and rock recordings.
