Gignoo Transition House Inc would like to recognize today as the National Day of Awareness for MMIWG2S+. Today we bring awarness to the disproportionately high number of murdered and missing persons cases among Indigenous women and girls.
We honour their lives, families and communities.

On May 5th, a Memory Walk for Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP) will be held in Fredericton.

We invite community members, families, and allies to join us as we honour the lives lost, support one another, and raise awareness for ongoing justice and healing.

The walk will begin at Carleton Park (North Side) at 10:30 AM and end at Officer’s Square (Southside). A map of the route is included in this post.

At 11:30 AM at Officer’s Square, there will be speakers, drummers, dancers, food, refreshments, and time to gather in community.

At 1:30 PM, a short film, They Remain by Wabanaki Media, will be shown at Beaverbrook Art Gallery.

All are welcome. We encourage everyone to walk with us in remembrance and solidarity.

✨ Gignoo Indigenous Youth Gathering 2026 ✨

There are gatherings that you attend… and gatherings that stay with you. 💜

On March 4–5 in Fredericton, youth came together for the Gignoo Indigenous Youth Gathering 2026, a space rooted in Indigenous ways of knowing, community care, and the belief that our young people deserve safety, support, and opportunities to grow in culture and connection.

Across two days, youth shared laughter and learning, creativity and reflection, ceremony and celebration. They showed courage in the conversations, kindness with one another, and strength in simply showing up as themselves. Watching youth connect, to culture, to community, and to their own voices, was powerful.

Woliwon. Wela’lioq. Thank you.

Thank you to the elders and knowledge holders who helped keep us grounded, to the guests, artists, facilitators, and performers who shared their gifts, and to the staff and volunteers who cared for every detail behind the scenes.

A special thank you to Mariah Perley & Jenny Kitpo for guiding the gathering with warmth and heart as MCs, Party Bear Rentals for the decorating and entertainment that brought the space to life, the Delta Fredericton for hosting, and Chelsea Lee-Anne for capturing these moments. 📸

Most of all, thank you to the youth.
You are not just our future. You are our strength right now. ✨

Are you looking for ways to support women and children in your community over the Christmas holidays? If so, consider reaching out to sponsor a family or fulfilling a wish on our Christmas Wish Tree!

Woli Nipayimiyan!

Gignoo Transition House is excited to announce the launch of our annual Christmas Program!

Each year, we provide holiday support for the women and children who have accessed our services throughout the year. While the holiday season is often a time of joy and connection, for many families, it can be the most financially challenging time of the year, especially with the rising cost of living.

If you would like to support the Christmas Program at Gignoo please reach out to us using the information below. You can choose to adopt a family, donate individual gifts, or make a monetary contribution. Thank you for your generosity.
