Non-profit organization and provincial association of transition houses and second stage housing for individuals experiencing domestic and intimate partner violence in NB, Canada. Formally founded in January 2009, DVANB is a non-profit organization working to address the issue of domestic and intimate partner violence (DIPV) in New Brunswick through collaboration, advocacy, and awareness. In 2023,

DVANB changed its long-standing name, "New Brunswick South Central Transition House and Second Stage Coalition". DVANB has 12 member organizations including 10 transition houses and six second stage housing facilities, many of which also provide outreach services and sexual violence services. DVANB brings it's member organizations together to discuss relevant common issues and share best practices in supporting women and their children struggling with abuse and violence. DVANB's work also includes research, developing training materials and opportunities for service providers, establishing standards in the DIPV sector, advocacy for systems change, and public awareness initiatives. We plan our work in response to the concerns that our members are hearing from the women and children who use their services. We also collaborate with government departments, other community organizations, and academic institutions to implement best practices in responding to DIPV across the province. DVANB seeks to improve the lives of all women in New Brunswick affected by DIPV, including those that experience disproportionately high rates such as Indigenous women, 2SLGBTQIA+ people, racialized women, women with disabilities, newcomer women, senior women, and low-income women. We take the specific experiences and needs of these groups into consideration by applying a Gender-based Analysis Plus lens to our work. Instead, DVANB supports our 12 member organizations. Our members provide a wide range of direct supports that are free and confidential to those who have experienced DIPV. Many operate 24/7 crisis lines. Contact information for each of our members is posted to our page or can be found on their websites. Please reach out to your local service organization directly for support. In emergency situations, please call 911. DVANB is a small team, consisting of one Coordinator employed full-time and a board of 12 directors, one from each member. Our members include: Sanctuary House (transition house in Woodstock), Fundy Region Transition House (transition house and second stage in St. Stephen), Gignoo House (Indigenous transition house in Fredericton), Women in Transition House (transition house in Fredericton), Liberty Lane (second stage in Fredericton), Hestia House (transition house in Saint John), Second Stage Safe Haven (second stage in Saint John), Sussex Vale Transition House (transition house in Sussex), Crossroads for Women (transition house and second stage in Moncton), Courage Centre (second stage and emergency beds in Shediac), Miramichi Emergency Centre for Women (transition house and second stage in Miramichi), and Nignen Women's Shelter (Indigenous transition house in Natoaganeg First Nation). Please visit https://reseauservicesvictimesnb.ca/fr/ for a list of DIPV services in the francophone and northern parts of the province.

💜 The colour purple has symbolized advocacy for over a century - from the women’s suffrage movements of the early 1900s to public awareness campaigns against sexual & domestic violence in the 1970s. Now, wearing purple on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on Tuesday shows your support for victims and survivors of gender-based violence.
