On behalf of NBCC's Senior Care Navigation and Care Skills Development Program we are promoting the upcoming FREE Senior Care Navigation Workshop being held in the Charlotte County Region.

The workshop is designed to provide older adults, family and friend caregivers, with information about available services, resources, and supports that can help individuals navigate aging-related needs to help them age in place or at home for as long as possible.

Conférencier invité : Gordon L. Porter, C.M., O.N.B., directeur général d’Inclusive Education Canada ; chercheur, consultant et formateur chez Inclusion Canada

Gordon L. Porter, C.M., O.N.B., L.LD., est directeur d’Inclusive Education Canada et œuvre depuis plus de quatre décennies à rendre les écoles inclusives. Le Dr Porter a occupé les fonctions de directeur d’établissement, d’administrateur de district scolaire et de professeur d’université. Il a été conseiller en politiques et formateur pour plusieurs ministères de l’Éducation au Canada, plus récemment en Nouvelle-Écosse, dans les Territoires du Nord-Ouest et au Nouveau-Brunswick. Il a mené des missions de conseil et dispensé des formations en Amérique centrale et du Sud, en Afrique du Sud, aux Bahamas, en Nouvelle-Zélande, à Dubaï, au Portugal, en Espagne, en Suède et aux Pays-Bas. Gordon Porter est l’ancien président de la Commission des droits de la personne du Nouveau-Brunswick et de l’Association canadienne des organismes de défense des droits de la personne. Il a édité plusieurs ouvrages et vidéos sur l’éducation inclusive. Il a reçu le prix Whitworth de l’Association canadienne de l’éducation pour la recherche en éducation. Il est membre de l’Ordre du Nouveau-Brunswick et de l’Ordre du Canada, les plus hautes distinctions civiles de notre pays.

Guest Speaker: Gordon L. Porter, C.M., O.N.B., Executive Director, Inclusive Education Canada / Éducation inclusive Canada; Researcher, Consultant and Trainer at Inclusion Canada

Gordon L. Porter, C.M., O.N.B., L.LD. is the Director of Inclusive Education Canada and has focused on making schools inclusive for over four decades. Dr. Porter has worked as a principal, school district administrator, and university professor. He has been a policy advisor and trainer for several Education Ministries in Canada, most recently in Nova Scotia, the Northwest Territories and New Brunswick. He has consulted and provided training in Central and South America, South Africa, the Bahamas, New Zealand, Dubai, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the Netherlands. Gordon Porter is the former chair of the New Brunswick Human Rights Commission and the Canadian Association of Human Rights Agencies. He has edited several books and videos about inclusive education. He received the Canadian Education Association’s Whitworth Award for Research in Education. He is a member of the Order of New Brunswick and the Order of Canada, our country's highest civil honours.

This week, three of our Transition to Work students have been volunteering at the Founders Cup lacrosse tournament in Saint John!
