Tonight is the night! Come and find us at the Garrison Night Market across from the library to get your free milkweed plants and help out the monarch butterflies!

Get your free swamp milkweed plants and help the monarch butterflies see a successful season!
Nashwaak Watershed staff will be giving out free milkweed seedlings at the on June 11th AND at the on Saturday, June 13th, while supplies last. These plants were lovingly grown from seeds collected locally then grown at in Keswick.
Monarch butterflies lay their eggs on milkweed leaves and it is the only plant their caterpillars can eat. Milkweed flowers also provide nectar to many other insects and hummingbirds.
Make sure to come early - we have a limited supply, and these plants are popular!

It's World Environment Day!🌎🌳

The Nashwaak Watershed Association Inc. is working hard to help educate and protect the environment in the Nashwaak Watershed! From water quality monitoring and ecological restoration to species-at-risk surveys, forest management, and community outreach, we are trying our best to preserve our natural environment💚

We had a lovely time with the Nursing Home Without Walls-Nashwaak Rural Community group! We heard and saw lots of birds and learned about the Merlin app.

🐟 Today we’re raising the (virtual) flag for Wild Salmon Day! At NWAI we understand the importance of restoring and preserving freshwater habitat for Atlantic salmon.

We do our part to protect the future of Atlantic Salmon by restoring river banks 🪏
planting native trees and grasses in riparian zones 🌱
monitoring erosion throughout the watershed 🛘
restoring and monitoring aquatic connectivity 💧
and monitoring Atlantic salmon spawning activity through our redd surveys 🐟

Wild Atlantic salmon populations have declined by 80% in the past 50 years, and we need to take action now to prevent further decline. It will take all of us to restore salmon rivers and write a brighter story

Want to get more involved in the Nashwaak Watershed? We have four volunteer species at risk surveys coming up!🐦‍⬛🌾

Spend the morning in the field with our Species at Risk Coordinator and staff as we survey Bobolinks and Bank Swallows throughout the watershed. This is an engaging learning experience where you’ll get to observe these threatened species up close and understand how they’re monitored📝🪺
