Something extraordinary is coming to Fredericton!
The Sri Chinmoy Peace Run — the world's longest torch relay for peace. Thursday, May 28th at 12:30 PM at Fredericton City Hall, the torch will arrive rain or shine! Deputy Mayor Jocelyn Pike will officially receive the torch on behalf of our city as part of the Peace Run's Atlantic Canada tour. Since 1987, this flame has passed through 160+ nations and been held by Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, Muhammad Ali, Carl Lewis, Bishop Desmond Tutu, former Governor General Michaëlle Jean, and over 55 world leaders and heads of state. More than 7 million people have carried, run with, or celebrated this symbol of humanity's deepest hope — a more peaceful world. Now it's coming to Fredericton — and the public is welcome to come see it and hold it for themselves to be a part of something that has united the world.
