🚩 Killarney Lake's flag is up, and the lifeguards are on duty! 🛟

Monitored daily between 10am to 7pm, the lifeguard zone is between the flags in front of the tower and the buoys in the water where there is a dramatic drop off into deeper water. Flotation devices and watercrafts should be kept outside the lifeguard zone.

Beach season is here 🏖️ When will you plan your visit?

Interesting fact: We have been teaching water safety and water rescue in Canada since 1896. Established in England (1891) as The Swimmers' Life Saving Society, we became The Royal Life Saving Society in 1904. Today, we're known as simply the Lifesaving Society.

May 27 is National Sunscreen Day! As the weather warms up, remember: It's not only the cloudless sunny days that can leave you sunburnt! Warm, bright, and cloudy days can trick you into thinking you're not at risk, but you can still burn! Always pack your sunscreen when heading out to enjoy the weather and the water!

May 16 - 22 is Safe Boating Awareness week!

As you're preparing to enjoy the water and make your boating plans, keep these key messages in mind:

- Wear your lifejacket. Over 80% of Canadians who drown while boating were not wearing their lifejacket or not wearing it properly.
- Boat sober. Whether it’s prescription drugs, alcohol, or cannabis, the use of intoxicants is both irresponsible and illegal. Be cold water safe.
- Cold water can severely impact your ability to swim or even just stay afloat. Even the best swimmers will feel the effects of a sudden cold-water immersion.
- Have yourself and your vessel prepared. Make sure you and your boat are up to your planned on-water activities. Be sure your boat is properly equipped with required safety equipment.
