LEAP (leadership, entrepreneurship, action plan) is a two-day conference designed to help delegates nurture their soft-skills and guide them through the process of starting their own business. The conference will be online, in early October.

Introducing our last panellist, Joanna Killen, CEO and Co-Founder of Momentum Canada!

Councillor Joanna Killen was elected in May of 2021. Her pronouns are she/her and she lives in Fundy Heights in West Saint John with her partner and young son and identifies as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Joanna is the co-owner and operator of Slocum & Ferris in the Saint John City Market and has been involved in entrepreneurship since the age of 19. She previously owned a Startup Consultancy, Momentum Canada Skills Development and has worked for Enterprise Saint John (now Envision Saint John) and as Marketing Manager for Brunswick Square. She has served on a number of boards, most recently chairing the Saint John Community Arts Board and as an active member of the Community Loan Fund Board.

Introducing Xavier Hébert-Couturier, Co-Founder and CEO of Picketa Systems, and one of our panellists this year!

From the small farming town of Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Xavier always dreamed of inventing technology that would solve big challenges while being fascinated by how ideas develop into meaningful organizations. As a software engineering student at UNB, Xavier learned from courses exploring data science, cybersecurity, and project management. He then worked as an entrepreneur coordinator for Planet Hatch, a software developer for Rise, and has volunteered in both business and technical roles. Xavier is now looking to scale precision agriculture, equipped with software development and venture experience to lead an entrepreneurial venture. His optimism and dedication to Picketa Systems set an example to follow for other members of the company.

Introducing our next panellist, Amy Andrews, CEO and Co-Founder of LifeTrack Safety Systems Ltd.

Amy Andrews is a co-founder and the CEO of LifeTrack Safety Systems Ltd., which develops innovative technology to help make the world a safer place. Amy was a transfer student from UPEI and is a UNB alumnus with a D. TME (2019), BSc Eng (Mechanical) (2019), and M Eng (2020).

Amy believes that personal safety should be accessible to all. Her company, LifeTrack Safety Systems Ltd., is creating a personal safety mobile application that will help university students share safety information. Amy played rugby at UPEI and UNB, and she continues to play and coach at both the club and provincial levels.
