A massive thank you to Sam Stockell and the The Town of Fort Smith, NT! Not only did they put on a fantastic theatre summer camp, but they also used it as an opportunity to give even more back to our community.

During their final performance, donations were collected for the Fort Smith Food Bank. We always appreciate donations, big or small, but there’s something special about receiving support from right here in our own community. It stays near and dear to our hearts.

This thank you extends to every person who attended the final performance, had the opportunity to give, and chose to do so. Your generosity makes a difference, and we are incredibly grateful for your support.

We also know that not everyone is in a position to give financially, and that’s okay. There are many ways to give back to your community.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be launching a volunteer drive for the Fort Smith Food Bank. If you’ve been looking for a way to get involved, lend a hand, and give back to your community, we’d love to hear from you!

The Fort Smith Food Bank would like to thank St. Vincent de Paul - Edmonton - SSVP for yet another generous donation. Year after year, the people of Fort Smith can depend on the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul to help keep our community’s pantries full.

“Our Project continues to provide food security to those living in the Arctic. Since 2010 the Society members in Edmonton and Calgary have been providing food, household items, beds and bedding, sewing machines and fabric as well as other items requested from members of the nine communities that we serve.”

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul continues to give, not only to our community, but to many communities across Canada and north of the 60th parallel. We are incredibly grateful for all they do and for the difference they continue to make in the lives of so many.

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a friend, Gary Vanderkuil.

He was an important part of our community, and his loss will be felt deeply by all who had the privilege of calling him a friend.

Every week, I could count on seeing Gary as I walked down those steps to the basement, knowing I was going to leave with a good story and a smile on my face. Today, those same steps will feel a little heavier.

Gary had a giving nature. Whether it was bringing snacks unprompted, showing up with a nifty tool, or simply the pleasure of watching him give Father Aaron a hard time, he always found a way to give.

He will be missed more than words can say. We are grateful for the time we had with Gary, for the stories, the laughs, and the memories he leaves behind.

Rest easy, Gary. You will not be forgotten.

Got extra bags taking up space at home? The Fort Smith Food Bank is running low and would greatly appreciate any spare bags you can donate. Drop them off this Saturday in the basement of St. Joseph Church. Thank you for helping us continue to serve our community!

The Fort Smith Food Bank will be open from 12PM-1PM this Saturday.

We want to thank Stephanie Pryor for her dedication and leadership as President of our Food Bank.

Stephanie has made a real difference in our community. Whether working behind the scenes or handing out hampers on Saturdays, she was always there to help ensure that families and individuals in our community had access to the support they needed.

We are incredibly grateful for everything she has done.

Thank you, Steph, for caring so deeply about our community and for all the time, effort, and heart you put into helping others.
