📣 Wood Buffalo Frolics Half-Day Civic Holiday – March 6, 2026

The Town of Fort Smith would like to remind residents that Friday, March 6, 2026, from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. (Mountain Time) has been declared a Half-Day Civic Holiday in recognition of the 2026 Wood Buffalo Frolics festivities

We hope everyone takes the opportunity to enjoy the celebrations and community events happening throughout the afternoon.

🩵 Once again, Jordan’s Principle will be making a visit to Our Babies Our Future to help First Nations mama’s and First Nations children understand the new guidelines and application process for assistance. If you need help, please come to this information session.

This will be on during our Sewing Circle class so please feel free to take part in both.

This week there will be a change of events. Sadly there will be no cooking circles this week. Refreshments and snacks provided. Open every day from 1pm- 4pm. come enjoy this space. we have resources that are available from baby clothing, pampers and some baby items in the lending library portion of the program.

THURSDAY JORDANS PRINCIPAL WILL BE HERE AT OBOF for those that would like assistance in filling out an application, or maybe you just have questions about jordans principal.
the visit will happen the same time as the baby Garland sewing class.

🌿 Welcome Our Newest Team Member: Joline Hardisty 🌿

Our Babies Our Future is pleased to welcome Joline Hardisty to our program team. Joline brings a wide range of skills, experience, and cultural knowledge that she is excited to share with the mothers and families we serve.

Originally from Fort Smith, Joline has operated her own business in Alberta and is deeply committed to living a healthy, balanced lifestyle. She is passionate about supporting her people and shows her dedication through every interaction. As a mother of four, she understands the importance of community, connection, and culturally grounded care.

Joline is a facilitator with an impressive collection of talents, including:

Birth doula support

Sewing, beading, and crafting

Traditional skills such as moose hide tanning

Full moon ceremonies

Mitt and moccasin making

Seamstress work

Many other creative and cultural practices

Her passion, warmth, and love for her people shine through in everything she does and in the way she carries herself.

We invite you to stop by and meet Joline Monday–Thursday, 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Whether you have a project you’re working on, need a hand, want some company, or simply want a peaceful space to relax and create — our doors are open.

Please Join me, Joline Hardisty in the Full moon circle at OUR BABIES OUR FUTURE from 1:30 - 4pm where we take the time to sit, teach and smudge.

For those wondering what it is about I have written a Nice little blurb about what to expect.
this circle is intended to bring women together and hold space as we center ourselves. The full moon is deeply energetic and that energy does impact us, it is nice to gather together where we can visit, unload some weight we have been carrying and feel shifts happening with in and maybe leave the circle a little lighter.
this particular circle will be a drop in. Hope to see you here.

Full Moon Circle - honouring the significance between the full moon and your sacred femininity. Women’s cycles follow the full moon cycle and synchronize for good reason. There is a gift that each of us hold as women, birth givers and portals from heaven to earth. It is a beautiful thing when we start noticing and honouring our place within this creation of life that we hold so dearly for ourselves and our families.
On the full moon, life can seem chaotic and overwhelming but if we can pause, take a moment to breathe and give ourselves a chance to reflect and share in a space that is safe and comfortable it allows you the chance to see, feel and hear in a different manner. Life is what we create and when the moon is full we take time for assessment and conscious co-creation. That is why we take time to honour ourselves and our place in this life on a day so FULL and abundant in energy.
When we take the time for the CONSCIOUS creation of our lives we start to take notice that life really can be fulfilling. That we are not just at the whim of external forces beyond our control. We insert ourselves in our own creation and allow the world to turn and create but we stay mindful that the things are happening around us and not in us!. Learning to observe and not absorb. Picking up these types of skills along our journey in this life allows us to breathe a little easier, live a little freer and Be in a way that grounds us to the present. Come Sit and unload in a circle of feminine creation and space.
As Women we are portals in this world from the spirit realm to the physical world. We are naturally and inherently different. We hold things differently on our journey. Many of us take a back seat in our own lives believing that our feelings and emotions are just things that happen to us, we don’t give ourselves space to see a different view in terms of the happenings of life, because it is always turning. Life is always moving. And sometimes in the movement we hold things that are extremely heavy and we bear the weight anyway, because the show must go on. On a Full moon it allows us to unload in a safe place held by other women and have the things we carry silently (or out loud) in our entire medicine wheel, the mental, the physical, the emotional and the spiritual to be released and in turn make our journey a little lighter as we walk this earth and have our beingness be the medicine in every step we take in this life. We are such a gift. It’s time our women walk like it.

Here is our February Calendar at Our Babies Our Future!
A few highlights:
-Monday, February 2nd will be learning all about the feminine teachings of the full moon circle and cycle.
-on February 4th, we will start our Cooking Circle! This is limited to expecting and breastfeeding mothers. Please sign up 587-372-1410 with Joline!
-Thursday February 5th, and every Thursday after, will be the start to our baby garland series for the month.

💖Our Babies Our Future has a few new things happening this season! Stop by all week for our meet and greet, and vision board making classes with Joline!
Joline Hardisty will be filling in as the Resource Mother for the next few months. There will be many new and exciting classes coming in the next few months for mamas and babies. Please stop by and visit her for all of your prenatal and postnatal needs!
