🚨 Upcoming Emergency Feeder Water Main Repairs🚨

Starting Thursday, February 5, the City will begin emergency repairs to the Feeder Water Main that delivers raw water from the City’s wells near the Peace River to the Water Treatment Facility. To complete this critical work, water restrictions will be in effect, and Bulk Water Dispensing Stations will be closed until repairs are complete.

A leak discovered in the line requires immediate repair. While work is underway, we cannot refill our reservoirs, and we need your help to conserve water!

Huntington Place Housing Co-op has prepared a Snow Removal Tenure Package to gather pricing for the upcoming winter seasons (October 23, 2025 to May 30, 2027).

If you’re interested, please note that the deadline for submitting your tender is 4:00 PM on September 21, 2025.

In times of crisis, being prepared is key.

You may find yourself without power or running water following an emergency, but your emergency kit will help you weather the storm! 👜🚨

Pack essentials like:

⏺️ Clean water
⏺️ Non-perishable food and can opener
⏺️ Radio and a flashlight
⏺️ Charged power bank and batteries
⏺️ First aid kit
⏺️ Important documents (I.D., certificates)
⏺️ Blankets and warm clothing
⏺️ Copy of your emergency plan

Remember in spring 2024 when we received all of the Fort Nelson evacuees?? You asked us how to help in the Reception Centre at the arena. Here is how to get the training and sign up to be part of the ESS team of volunteers:

1️⃣ Register for EMRG 1635-Introduction to Evacuee Registration and Supports on the JIBC website (FREE) https://s.mtrbio.com/mjhksursve

3️⃣ You will be added to the call list to help out next time ESS is activated ♥️

It’s back to school time! Here are some safety reminders from the Fort St. John RCMP:

🚗 Be prepared for increased foot and vehicle traffic

🛝 Know your route to school and try to stick to it for your safety and your parent’s peace of mind

🚗 Slow down in school zones, you never know when a child will step out from between vehicles and run across the road

🛝 Always try to cross the road at a crosswalk or intersection, don’t dart out from between parked vehicles

🚗 Do not pass busses with stop arms extended or stopped vehicles who are allowing students to cross the road

🛝 If you are riding a bike, wear your helmet, and follow the rules of the road

🚗 Leave your phone alone

🛝 Always make eye contact with drivers and only proceed to cross roadways when you feel safe

🚗 School zones are in effect starting Tuesday, September 3

🛝 Make sure you listen to the traffic, remove an earbud if you have to so that you can be more aware of your surroundings

3rd Annual JUNK IN THE TRUNK is back just in time for spring cleaning! Forget the horrors of Facebook Marketplace, pack up anything and everything you want to sell and come on down to the parking lot at The Pub and Local Market in Charlie Lake on May 4 and sell, sell, sell!

🎉TWO EVENTS IN ONE! 🎉

Our 2nd Annual POULTRY AND SMALL ANIMAL SALE is also taking place on the premises that day! Lots of poultry & small animals, craft & baked good vendors and much more!

🐴Chambers Horse Drawn will be on location for carriage rides!

NO FEE TO PARTICIPATE!!

🐕All participants are asked to provide a charitable donation to local animal organizations. On Our Way Home Animal Rescue Society and North Peace Forgotten Felines Society (see list of helpful supplies upon registration)
