The purpose of The Forge is to facilitate community and economic development in Fort St. John, BC and area with the goal of building a resilient community complemented by a diversified and sustainable economy. The Forge represents a partnership between the Community Development Institute (CDI) of University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) and the City of Fort St. The organization works with go

vernments, First Nations, industry, businesses, community and non-profit groups, facilitating discussions, generation of ideas and partnerships. Further, The Forge helps multi-sector partnerships develop strategies and track implementation of initiatives. Additionally, the organization works to create change through advising government and industry on policy and program development that will support and strengthen communities and economies. The work of The Forge is supported by high-quality research that helps policy and decision makers develop and implement plans and strategies for economic and community development as well as monitor and evaluate progress toward their goals.
