The Spirit of the Peace Powwow Society will be hosting their 16th Annual Powwow from June 10-12 2022 at the District Ice Ce
ntre in beautiful Taylor BC. This Society has hosted 14 successful powwows in the years past & we are so grateful for the continued support of our loyal sponsors, volunteers and community as well as the ever expanding interest and growth that makes this event such a truly special one. As many are in search of healing and cultural unity, a supported space remember those that have been lost lost and also a beacon of optimism for a future of reconciliation. The goals of the society each year is to provide a wonderfully inclusive family event that weaves together community education & experience with the long standing traditions of Indigenous culture. This event is an opportunity to gather our elders & youth together to create a space where culture is passed down & celebrated through dancing, drumming and ceremony. We invite each and every one of our neighbours in Fort St John, Taylor and surrounding areas to join in and take part in this event! The Spirit of the Peace Powwow continues to grow annually, bringing in dancers & drummers from all over BC & Alberta and as far away as Ontario and even the United States! This powwow is well known througout the powwow circle as one that holds great integrity & a beautifully welcoming spirit. The society is a non-profit organization who is run solely on the dedication & support of volunteers from within our beautiful Peace Region. These amazing volunteers work diligently to plan & execute this fun family event each year. The committee spends countless hours creating awareness, fundraising through proposals, presentations and raffles and organizing every detail to ensure a successful community celebration. We are so grateful to our energetic volunteers & to our local elders whom we rely upon to serve as our communities tradition knowledge keepers and provide us with direction within the powwow and it's ceremonies. We would like to give acknowledgment to our partners at the District of Taylor, Treaty 8 Tribal Association and the Council of Treaty 8 Chiefs. Without your continued support of venue, financial sponsorship, support staff and so much more we would not be able to create such a successful powwow year after year. We thank you for your time and consideration and look forward to seeing you in June!
