Thank you to the Fort St. James Community Foundation Society for their generosity and support towards the Fort St. James Curling Club- Kids Rock Youth Programs. Did you ever wonder when volunteers at the Fort St. James Community Foundation rest? Throughout the year we have monthly meetings…but not in July, August or December. This photo, taken from a Red Bull clip, reminded me of that.
For the upcoming year we will be doing a bit of restructuring because of changes with the Canadian Revenue Agency that we have fought so hard to obtain. The changes will make us better able to support our community.
Every person in our community is an automatic member of our foundation with no fees to pay. Would you like to become a Board Member, serve on the granting committee or be a volunteer at a fundraiser? Your job can be as big or as small as you wish. Approach us online, at the beach or in the coffee shop just to chat! We’d love to hear from you!

May 14, 2026. Tree Planting will be starting on May 16, 2026. We have 791,840 spring seedling, 365,000 summer seedlings for a total of 1,156,840 seedlings to be planted this year plus 400 Huckleberry plants. This is our first time planting huckleberries. Blue Collar Silviculture will be planting our seedling again this year.

We had a great year at the Fort St. James Community Foundation in 2025! The Board of Directors decided to show their appreciation to all the donors by putting their names in a hat and drawing for a beautiful gift bag! The winning donor was Sam Grill. Sam is a local man, momentarily displaced in another community, but a homegrown boy at heart. Accepting the gift bag is his mom, Monica.

Joyce Helweg created the Helweg Family Fund in 2021. She was reorganizing her life to fit into retirement. Faced with a capital gains issue, it was an easily remedied solution. Pay the taxes or give a gift, in perpetuity, to her community.
The fund was easily set up through the Fort St. James Community
Foundation. Anyone can contribute to the fund and receive an income tax deduction. 2026 is the first year funds be granted for the fund. Stay tuned to see who will benefit from the Helweg Family Fund this year!
