Qu'Appelle Valley Friendship Centre Connections

Qu'Appelle Valley Friendship Centre Connections On March 31, 2014, the Aboriginal Friendship Centre ended as a program of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada.

The Qu'Appelle Valley Friendship Centre (QVFC) is an incorporated not-for-profit and registered charitable, urban indigenous corporation situated in the urban indigenous community of Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan. Two new programs emerged - Community Capacity Support (CCS) Program and Urban Partnerships (UP) Program. CCS, through the Urban Aboriginal Strategy (UAS), provides core-like funding to F

riendship Centres and other urban Aboriginal organizations. This is so the organizations can have a stable base from which to deliver programs and services that increase urban Aboriginal participation in the economy, and attract additional investments. The realigned UAS is a strategic framework implemented by the Department of Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) to address urban Aboriginal issues in the multi-jurisdictional and multi-stakeholder environment of Canada?s urban centres. Participation in the economy means that Aboriginal peoples have the skills, knowledge and training to secure, maintain and excel in a strong Canadian economy. It is generally accepted that increased participation in the economy is achieved by individuals having suitable education, a skill set, self-advocacy skills and can access and utilize services/supports that reduce small challenges that create barriers, such as transportation and childcare. The Qu'Appelle Valley Friendship Centre (QVFC) relies on CCS funding for its core operations.

🧑‍🍳✨ Weekly Angel Alert: Celebrating the Incredible Lucy Hutcheon! 🦅❤️🍲

If you’ve ever stepped into the Centre on a Wednesday and felt that instant warmth, or smelled something absolutely delicious cooking in our kitchen, then you already know exactly who we are bragging about today!

We want to send the biggest, most heartfelt Kinanâskomitin / Thank You to our amazing volunteer, Lucy Hutcheon, for her beautiful dedication and endless contributions to QVFC. 🌟

❤️ A Heart Full of Love, Every Single Wednesday
Without fail, Lucy shows up every single single week with one goal in mind: to feed and look after our community. She doesn't just cook food; she pours her entire soul, her kindness, and her care into every single meal she prepares.

Lucy does so much behind the scenes for us, and she does it all with the most humble, helpful, and kind-hearted spirit. In a world where the "heart work" can sometimes feel heavy, Lucy is a constant reminder of the pure Good Medicine that keeps our circle strong. She is the epitome of our value, "Give to Gain." 🙌🌻

Lucy, we want to brag about you today because you deserve all the love! Thank you for choosing to stand with us, for lifting up our community, and for filling the Centre with so much comfort, and love every Wednesday. We don't know what we would do without you! 👩‍🍳💖

Please join us in the comments below in showering Lucy with the appreciation she deserves! 👇✨

🌱 Planted with Love: Thank You, Wendy’s Greenhouse! 🦅🥕🍅

Our garden beds are about to be absolutely bursting with life! We want to send a massive, heartfelt Kinanâskomitin / Thank You to Wendy’s Greenhouse in Neudorf for their incredibly generous donation of a beautiful variety of vegetable plants! 🌿🙌

❤️ Nourishing Our Families
At the Centre, we know that food security and connecting with the earth is pure Good Medicine. Because of Wendy's Greenhouse, our families and youth will have the chance to tend to these plants, watch them grow, and enjoy fresh, healthy food straight from the soil.

As a community organization, the "heart work" we do can sometimes feel heavy, but gestures like this remind us that we are surrounded by so much kindness and support. We deeply appreciate businesses—both near and far—who choose to stand with us and invest in the well-being of our people. 🏡🌻

Thank you, Wendy’s Greenhouse, for your generosity and for helping us grow something beautiful for the Valley! We are sending you so much appreciation! 💚🌱

🏮 An Important Apology to Our Community & Men’s Group

We want to extend our most sincere, heartfelt apologies to all the men who showed up for yesterday’s Men’s Group evening program.

Unfortunately, due to an internal miscommunication on our end, there was no staff member on duty to open up, and our facilitator could not gain access to the classroom.

We want to make it absolutely clear that this was 100% the fault of the Qu'Appelle Valley Friendship Centre. None of this falls on Warriors Path Therapy & Consulting.

🦅 A Massive Thank You to Eric
Our incredible facilitator, Eric, did everything right. He was here, ready to go, and ready to hold space for our men. When things went sideways, he handled the situation with the utmost grace, professionalism, and kindness.

We truly appreciate Eric for being so incredibly understanding and for his unwavering commitment to showing up for the men in our community. Warriors Path is pure Good Medicine, and we are so grateful for his partnership.

❤️ Moving Forward with Heartwork
We know how much courage it takes for our men to step through our doors, dedicate their evenings to healing, and work on themselves. We deeply regret that we let you down yesterday.

We are tightening up our internal communications to ensure this never happens again. We value your time, your trust, and your commitment to your personal journeys.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate our mistakes. We look forward to seeing you all next week, filled with the same strength, laughter, and love you always bring to the circle. 🤝✨
