Good Morning FMM 🦁

It is with a heavy heart I must post this, unfortunately we must cancel our Community Bingo for next week, Tuesday June 9th. We simply do not have enough time to remedy the issue, and apologize for the short notice. We will not be running Bingo or events for the duration of the summer, but have everything in the works to resume again in the fall. We expect to start Bingo up again September 8th, please watch near the end of August for details!

The Clubhouse is available year round for private rentals, and my summer calendar is filling up. If you would like to visit the building for a viewing or book a date for an event, you can call or text Jess @ 780-799-1637 or email me at [email protected] and I'll do my best to accomodate you! Please keep in mind that the Lions Members and myself are all volunteers, and will do our best to respond to inquiries as quickly as possible, but sometimes life happens. Thank you in advance for your patience.

For inquiries regarding the Lion's Family Park and Playground (not the clubhouse), please check the RMWB website or call Pulse @ 780-743-7000 with any questions or concerns. On a good note, the water levels of the Hangingstone River have dropped and is no longer flooding the banks. The public is welcome to continue to use the park, but we and the city, urge you to use caution when walking the paths or around the riverbanks, as the flooding made it messy and possibly unstable in certain areas. Also keep in mind that with summer here, the bears are around and occasionally like to visit the park as well, so always be aware of your surroundings, and do not leave food or garbage laying around, and ask that visitors please pick up after their animals when enjoying the park. I will check and share any posts from the RMWB regarding the park for public info.

Happy New Years Fort McMurray!!

Please be cautious entering the parking lot at Lions Park, it hasn't been plowed yet, and the entrance is messy. If you would like to submit a ticket, please call Pulse Line and maybe it will be done sooner! Thanks!

And don't forget our monthly Community Bingo! Every 2nd Tuesday of the month (except July and August), doors open at 5pm and Games begin at 6pm! Cash Only.

Hello Fall!! The Fort McMurray Tarsands Lions Club is back for the 2025-26 season! If you are interested in seeing what the Lion's are about, come join us for our monthly meetings on the First Tuesday of each month! Dinner is at 6:00pm, meeting starts at 7:00pm.

You are welcome to reach out to 780-799-1637 if you have any questions, or are interested in renting our space for events!

Bingo friends!! Stretch those arms and check your dabbers, Lions Bingo is coming in hot! Tuesday September 9th is our first night back after summer break, and it will be a monthly event on the Second Tuesday each month! Doors open at 5:00pm, Games start at 6:00pm. Game cards are $1 each, and a small concession is available!

**Please remember we are CASH ONLY for Bingos, and follow all AGLC guidelines and permits**

⚠️Just a heads up, there is a large blackbear in the Lions Park currently, so please avoid for now, Fish and Wildlife are aware. Keep an eye on the RMWB page, and I'll try to keep updated as possible ⚠️

Unfortunately with Fall coming, wildlife uses the creek and park area for feeding and are attracted by the garbage and food visitors bring. We ask that from now until Winter has the bears sleeping, that you be extra aware of your surroundings, make sure children and pets are well supervised, and that all food and garbage is disposed of in provided bins and never EVER try to approach one. You can report bears to the RMWB Pulse Line, Fish and Wildlife, or the Report a Poacher Hotline.

Please bear in mind any issues with the river breakup can impact our park and clubhouse. We will do our best to keep informed, and if the city takes measures to close the park, it's out of our hands 😓 at this time, the grounds are quite wet but still accessible, and please be cautious using the playground as it's slippery.

We are hopeful the river will break with little issues this year!! 🙏🤞

River breakup season is coming. As temperatures warm, ice on the Athabasca and Clearwater rivers melts and breaks apart, elevating the risk of flooding.

Hello Fort McMurray!

Due to technical issues, we have restarted our page and made a few changes. We are still the wonderful group of volunteers active in the FMM community, and look forward to engaging with everyone again! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out, and bear with me as I navigate this Page and update it to be as useful as possible. I will be uploading pictures, contacts, our website, etc, so I greatly appreciate your patience!
