This week, twenty-seven participants from 17 organizations came together for a working session to help shape the Wood Buffalo Local Immigration Partnership Community Plan. Participants included members of the Newcomer Interagency Network and the Immigrant Advisory Table.
The session began with a brief overview of the draft plan, followed by small-group discussions. Participants reviewed proposed initiatives, shared feedback, identified gaps, and suggested new ideas to better support newcomers in the community.
They also explored opportunities for organizations to work together, strengthen existing programs, and support specific initiatives moving forward.
The session helped create clearer direction around priority initiatives, stronger alignment between organizations, and early commitment from partners to support implementation. It also built renewed momentum and a shared sense of ownership, reinforcing the community’s commitment to making a more welcoming and inclusive Wood Buffalo.
