From August 24th to 27th, for our Sports Week Summer Camp, The Fort McKay Wellness Center will be attending the Fort McKay Braves & Oil Barons Hockey Camp as our program for the week. Our operating hours for that Monday to Thursday will change to 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM. For kids who do not enjoy hockey or skating, there will be alternate activities in place- so all kids are welcome to join us. The bus will leave Fort McKay at 7:30 AM. Please let us know if your child will be attending with Wellness by calling or texting/messaging us. Permission slips will be sent out the week before.

We need some Junior Leaders (ages 8+) and/or volunteers to come help us out at our hot dog stand fundraiser this weekend at Home Hardware. Home Hardware donates everything, we just have to provide the volunteers and all funds raised go to support our programs! Parent/guardians are welcome to drop kids off to us between 10 am and 4 pm each day. Let us know if you can help out!

The Fort McKay Wellness Center is seeking volunteers for our upcoming casino fundraiser at the end of August. This is a HUGE fundraiser for us and we need approximately 28 volunteers throughout the 2 days to help make it a success. Shift times and positions vary (1 pm to 8:30 pm, 8 pm to 3:30 AM and 11 PM to 3:30 am on Saturday and 1-8, 7:30-2:45 and 11 PM to 2:45 am). Looking for Junior Leader Volunteers! The Fort McKay Wellness Center is doing a BBQ Hot Dog fundraiser at Fort McMurray Home Hardware on August 8th and 9th and we need need volunteers! Fort McKay parents can drop their Junior Leaders off (Ages 8+) any time between 10 am and 4 pm and have some time to yourself to go shopping, go to the gym or have a nap! Parent volunteers are also welcome! If you can't volunteer, come by and buy a hot dog or some snacks/drinks and support our community youth and the Fort McKay Wellness Center!

Our Summer Camp starts on Monday, July 6th and runs Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM for children grades Kindergarten to Grade 7 (must have completed Kindergarten to attend). Fort McKay Treaty Days starts today! Join the Fort McKay Wellness Center today for Bike Decorating from 3 to 5 pm and get those bikes and scooters all decorated for the Kids Bike Parade tomorrow! Prizes for the Best Overall, Best Theme (40 Years of Building), Best Cultural, Rider-Bike Look a Like and Most Unique. Remember that helmets are mandatory for anyone riding in the Bike Parade. We will have some extras on hand, but helmets are limited. Register for the bike parade by 9:30 AM at the store on Friday. Anyone without a helmet will have to walk their bike/scooter in the parade. The Fort McKay Wellness Center is taking part in the 75 hours of Recreation and Parks Challenge to celebrate JRPM (June is Recreation and Parks Month). We have incorporated 75 hours of outdoor recreation into our child/youth programming this month and our participants have already started tracking their hours! Once the 75 hours is completed, all Wellness Center participants will receive a prize AND get their name entered into the Alberta Recreation & Parks Association's contest for a chance to win a $500 prize pack!

For our community challenge- Community members can send us photos of themselves being active outdoors this month and all entries will go into a draw to win a $25 gift card! Post your photos here, or send them via text, messenger or email to one of our staff! The Fort McKay Wellness Center is looking for Junior Leaders (community members or Band members) who would be interested in being a Room Leader on our upcoming youth Cultural Excursion. Youth between the ages of 12-17 are welcome to apply by writing a letter or email stating "Why they would make a good Room Leader". Deadline to apply in Monday, May 25th.
