We were thrilled to welcome youth participant Elias to the trapline this year! An Indigenous youth from Edmonton, Elias joined us for his very first trapping season—and he was eager to learn. From building lynx pens to checking sets, he jumped right in and made the most of the experience.

That’s a wrap on this winter’s trapline! Despite a late start due to the lack of snow, we had an incredible season, kicking off on January 2 instead of our usual November 1.

Mel was joined by junior partner Troy W., now in his third year of trapping, and newcomer Elias, who was eager to learn. With no quotas in place, we had a highly successful harvest, bringing in four wolverines, six lynx, as well as fishers, mink and weasels. A memorable season all around, and we’re already looking forward to the next one.
