Brain Injury Association of Fort Erie Supporting Brain Injury with Respect and Understanding

05/17/2024

Today, the Brain Injury Association of Fort Erie community project is receiving the spotlight! With team leader Jennifer Greenland, Erin Hagar, Kelly Spence, and Sherlette Rutherford, the team aims to help bring awareness to BIAFE's cause.

This organization is an important one, being one of the few remaining brain injury agencies in Ontario that provides day programming, thus an important part of our Niagara community.

These past 9 months, the participants of our Community Leadership Development Program have been working on individual projects in collaboration with community organizations throughout the Niagara region. Our participants have been hard at work cultivating the goals they have set towards supporting and growing these organizations as well as spreading awareness for what they represent.

So keep an eye out over the next few weeks as we'll be highlighting each Community Project and their respective organizations and goals!

Yesterday, amidst the incredible recognition we received at BIAFE receiving the Award of Merit through the Niagara Impact Awards, we were thrilled to learn that one of our esteemed Board Members received her own well-deserved recognition.

Betty Talbot, our dedicated Treasurer, embodies the spirit of advocacy for BIAFE. Her unwavering commitment extends far beyond our organization, encompassing contributions to Fort Erie's community activities with the Ridgeway Legion, Kin Club, and Community Living.

Thank you for all that you do, Betty! From the entire South Niagara community.

Our group sits down on the first Thursday of every month for a fun game of euchre. ♣️♦️ It's a routine event that everyone looks forward to, and we get to see the progress and competitive side come out in everyone.

We hope to see our members this Thursday!

Why cards? We play cards to help our members to relearn skills like memory, pattern recognition, and attention. They require some strategy, but not so much that it will become frustrating. As we improve skills, we try harder card games.
