There are good reasons to worry. Many things in life are uncertain. But anxiety is not caused by uncertainty alone. It often grows when we feel the need to control things that are beyond our control. The more tightly we try to hold on to the future and our circumstances, the heavier our hearts become. The paradox is that peace is found not in greater control, but in letting go of the need to control everything.

Our anger is often a clue to our deepest love. If comfort is what we value most, we'll be angry when it's disrupted. If status matters most to us, we'll be angry when we're criticized. If truth, kindness, and justice are closest to our hearts, we'll be angry at what harms people. If we want to understand our anger, we may need to ask a deeper question: What does it reveal about what we truly love? Do we genuinely seek the good of others, or are we mostly protecting ourselves?

Judging others gives us a gratifying sense of superiority. It creates the comforting illusion that the problem lies entirely with someone else. But while we focus on the flaws of others, we often overlook our own. In this way, judgment becomes a subtle form of self-deception — a way of avoiding an honest encounter with ourselves.

None of us today feels ashamed to go to the dentist; on the contrary, we see it as wise and responsible to take care of our teeth. Visiting a dentist has become a normal part of life — even though dental care was not as developed in the past.

Yet many people still neglect their mental health and inner life in times of struggle or emotional crisis, due to the shame of seeking help from a counselor, fearing they will be seen as “abnormal.”

The irony is that behind the outward appearance of those in whose eyes we fear appearing “abnormal,” there is often the same brokenness and vulnerability that exists in all of us.

And someone else is looking at us in exactly the same way, going through their own struggles, and simply wishing to be “normal” as we appear in their eyes.

Don’t be ashamed to ask for help.

Yelling doesn’t solve problems — it only makes them worse. What can truly help is an honest, calm conversation.
