Fort Erie Firefighter / Crystal Beach Firefighters Association J Adam Arsenault. We are glad to have him as part of our team. Do you know someone who might want to be a Fort Erie Firefighter? Encourage them to fill out an online application today.
Some kids dream about growing up to be a rock star, and playing sold out concerts in front of thousands of people. Other kids dream about growing up to be a firefighter, and helping people in a wide variety of emergency situations. Fort Erie Stn.6 firefighter Adam Arsenault grew up to live both of those dreams.
As a Sony music recording artist, Adam was guitarist for the band "Project Wyze" and has played shows in front of crowds of up to 40,000 people. His band has toured with Ozzy Osborne, and played shows with well known bands such as Linkin Park, Slip Knot, Black Sabbath, Blink 182, Papa Roach and many others. In the late 90's / early 2000's, Project Wyze was a part of major music festivals such as Ozzfest, Edgefest, and Warped Tour, and performed in venues across North America & Europe.
Since the band's break up, Adam's life has seen a few changes. He's now the proud father of 3 young children and a project manager for a construction company. He and his fiancée moved to Fort Erie in 2015 and enjoy their life together on a small hobby farm.
Another change came to Adam's life in 2016, when he became a volunteer firefighter with Fort Erie Fire Department. "Being a firefighter is something that I always thought about doing. When I saw that Fort Erie was recruiting volunteer firefighters, I decided to go for it" says Adam. "I'm the kind of person that, when I do something, I jump in with both feet. Firefighting hasn't been any different. I want to learn as much as I can and do as much as I can to help people".
When asked how the rush of firefighting compares to the rush of playing guitar in front of 40,000 people, Adam says that there is no comparison. "I got a shot of adrenaline when I would play a concert for a crowd of up to 40,000 people" but he says, the adrenaline rush would usually go away as soon as he'd play the first note on his guitar at a concert. That is very different from "the non-stop rush of being a Fort Erie Firefighter". Adam says that every time he responds to an emergency, he knows that someone is counting on him to help them at a moment of need. "That's why we train. It's why I wanted to be a firefighter" he says.
Fort Erie Fire Department is made up of men and women from a wide variety of backgrounds. Rock stars to judges, college students to corporate managers, anyone can be a Fort Erie Firefighter if they have the desire to serve; and meet a few simple hiring requirements (i.e. must be at least 18 years old, live full time in Fort Erie, and have a valid, unrestricted class "G" driver's license).
Fort Erie Fire and Emergency Services is currently recruiting volunteer firefighters. Do you or someone you know have the desire to help, and the courage to act, when an emergency occurs in our community? If so, then Fort Erie Fire Department might be for you. Why not “Go for it”, like Adam Aresenault did. It may turn out to be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.
