As a Métis community on Treaty 8 territory, the Fort Chipewyan Métis Nation stands in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and every day. We remain committed to truth-telling, healing, and meaningful reconciliation.

Today is a time to remember the countless children who never returned home and to honour Survivors and their families.

Reconciliation is rooted in the courage to listen, the humility to acknowledge past and ongoing harms, and a commitment to upholding the truth. Every Child Matters. 🟧

Applications for Sakastew Homes are now open to general public 🏡

Available in the lower level, the one-bedroom units are furnished and intended for Indigenous people ages 55+, offering affordable housing with Elder mobility in mind.

The available upper-level units are also furnished and move-in ready. They include studio units and a two-bedroom unit, and are currently being leased at market value rates. Open to Indigenous applicants or corporations/professionals.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Beach Party on Friday.🏖️🌞 From canoe races and tug of war to sandcastle building, a community BBQ, and tons of fun for the kids, it was a wonderful day of fun, laughter, and community spirit.

A sincere thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible. This day was brought to you through the collaboration of MCFN Band Government & Administration, Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Nunee Health, Mikisew Emergency Services, Fort Chip Fire Department, and Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation.

Help Share Our Knowledge. Strengthen Our Connection to the Land.

Fort Chipewyan Métis Nation is helping spread the word as Therese Tuccaro Secondary School Fort Chipewyan Community High School and Rita Marten Nihiyawiwin Kiskinwamatowin High School (RMKNHS) search for community members interested in supporting seasonal land-based learning opportunities for students.

Are you a patient and safety-minded person? Do you enjoy sharing your knowledge and skills with younger generations?

🔥 Learning traditional skills and practices on the land

For generations, our people have learned through time spent on the land. By watching, listening, doing and learning from one another. These opportunities help students build practical skills while strengthening their connection to the land, community, culture and the knowledge carried by those who came before us.

If you have knowledge to share and would like to help pass those teachings on to Métis and other youth in our community, we encourage you to get involved.
