This is where it starts — the early mornings, the practice pens, the friendships built in the arena dirt. No big paydays yet, just the pure love of the ride and the brotherhood that comes with it.
Hats off to every kid chasing that 8-second dream.

The Junior Roughstock Association National Finals Qualifier in All Girl Bull Riding 19 and Under in Wickenburg, AZ, Livie Morton, proudly representing Crooked Horn Canadian Junior Rodeo Association, shared her day-of-the-competition wisdom: “These animals feel your energy, so I try to stay as calm as possible.” Congratulations, Livie!

Big brother, Troy Franklin, and little brother, Cooper Lockhart. Cooper was just 6 years old when he came to Crossfield to ride his very first bull. His mom asked Troy if he could help him in the chutes. Troy took on the job very seriously. That was the beginning of a bond that grew into a brotherhood with Troy helping Cooper in every rodeo and hanging out with him after the rides.
Those first rides hit different when someone’s already been there is standing right beside you—showing the way, sharing the nerves, and making sure the little guy knows he’s not alone in the dirt. This is how the next generation of cowboys gets made.

There are good stock contractors and then there are great ones, like the Ericksons, who aren’t just about the animals, but are quietly building the next generation of cowboys and cowgirls. We are grateful to Rob and Brenda, who show up with patience, kindness, and a genuine desire to see the kids thrive.
