As I sit here on this cloudy day, I can’t help but think about what an incredible summer we had at the Hanley Institute.
One of my biggest highlights was travelling around the world without ever leaving our community! We were so fortunate to have youth come in and share their cultures, traditions, food, and stories about where they are from. Watching our campers learn from one another and experience something new was truly special.
We welcomed so many campers through our doors this summer, and hearing them talk about how much fun they had made all the planning and hard work worthwhile.
None of this would have been possible without the generous support of Community Foundation Grey Bruce. Their grant allowed us to provide all those little extras that turned a good camp into a truly memorable experience for our kids.
We are incredibly grateful for their support and for everyone who helped make this summer one to remember. ❤️

So happy Sam is coming back!

Wednesday we had our get ready for grade 9 day. To me this is the most important workshop we host. Giving youth the tools they need for high-school is so important, giving them resources that are available is crucial.
We talk about real life and stuff they may encounter in high school. We talk about mental health, s*x, self esteem, human trafficking, drugs and alcohol and social media safety. We partnered with M. Jackie Ralph from CMHA, Carmen and Nyssa from Women's House, Kody our community officer from Grey Bruce OPP and our favorite friend Tyler Boyle. This workshop the kids went home with a booklet of information, a hygiene kit and full belly as we ate all day.
Thank you to Andrea Harding from Highland Heights for the donation of tooth care necessities and another big thank you to Feversham Kinsmen for being a sponsor for this event. With their donation the kids had snacks and lunch provided and hygiene kits and wellness journals.

Did you know the OPP has a summer program for youth called (YIPI) Youth in Policing Initiative.
Where youth get paid to travel with an officer and go to different events and learn about policing. It was pretty cool to see one of our kids take the program this year. Draven said it was ealry mornings but definitely a cool opportunity.

This was our 8th annual golf tournament fundraiser. We have 164 golfers. Participants ranging from 2 years old to our more seasoned golfers. We have a new team taking the title.
Lj Longton, Lincoln Flynn, Cooper Oikawa and Logan Robinson.
The two day event was a huge success because of our volunteers, sponsors and donors and all our amazing community members who showed up to support us.
