The Grand River Conservation Authority has issued a Flood Warning for Haldimand County.

Recent warm temperatures along with thunderstorms and heavy rain have resulted in up to 60 mm of rainfall across the Grand River watershed, with forecasts anticipating more precipitation over the next few days.

As a result, river flows will be elevated along the Grand River and may result in flooding of low-lying areas. Members of the public are urged to use extreme caution and stay away from watercourses while the Flood Warning is in effect. Parents are reminded to keep children and pets away from these areas.

This flood message is in effect until 12 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 and will be updated as needed.

So far this year alone, Ontario has seen 22 deaths and 25 injuries from FIRE or CARBON MONOXIDE incidents.

Last year, 125 people lost their lives.
At the pace we’re seeing, 2026 could be even worse — and that is NOT acceptable.

What’s even more heartbreaking?
Most of these tragedies happened in homes without working Smoke or CO alarms.

⏰ THIS SUNDAY, MARCH 8 at 2:00 AM — DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME
When you move your clocks forward, take 2 minutes to protect your family.
🚨 DO THIS NOW — IT COULD SAVE A LIFE:
✔ Change the batteries in ALL Smoke & CO Alarms

🚨 AND REMEMBER:
✔ Test your alarms every month
