A huge THANK YOU to Tim Hortons Fernie for generously donating six dozen doughnuts in honour of National Doughnut Day! 🍩

National Doughnut Day holds special significance for The Salvation Army, with roots dating back to the First World War. During this time, the courageous "Doughnut Lassies" of The Salvation Army served thousands of fresh doughnuts to soldiers on the front lines in France.

Their acts of kindness provided comfort, encouragement, and a small taste of home during some of the most challenging circumstances imaginable. The legacy they created continues to inspire us today.

National Doughnut Day is a celebration of that history and a tribute to The Salvation Army’s longstanding commitment to compassion, service, and community support.

We are incredibly grateful to Tim Hortons Fernie for helping us honour this tradition and for their continued generosity within our community.

When Disaster strikes, The Salvation Army is there. Today, as we gathered for the RDEK Emergency Disaster Fair here in beautiful Fernie, BC., we were able to showcase what The Salvation Army can do during a disaster. Close to 500 people were in attendance and we served more than 300 people hamburgers, hot dogs, snacks and drinks. A big thanks to all the volunteers who came to help us today and thanks to the RDEK and The City of Fernie for their support in making this happen.

Come see us for an awesome BBQ prepared by EDS personnel on our Community Response Kitchen truck, and learn more about how we serve during times of crisis and disaster. We’ll see you there!

🚒Family Safety Day, an Emergency Preparedness Fair, will run from 10am - 2pm on City Hall grounds and features a fun-filled line-up of activities:

A great evening at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 36, Fernie, BC Veterans Dinner tonight. It is both an honour and a privilege to serve as Padre for these fantastic folks. Thanks for a wonderful evening and for the opportunity to serve.
