The Royal Canadian Army Cadets is a national organization for youth aged 12 to 18. There are more than 60 000 Sea, Air and Army Cadets in more than 1000 Corps and Squadrons nationwide. Our members generally train once a week during the school on Monday evenings, to learn citizenship, leadership, drill, effective speaking, outdoor survival, marksmanship and more. In addition to training nights, the
unit has other optional events at different times during the week dedicated to sports, drill, range, or other additional training. During select weekends during the year, the unit engages in outdoor field training exercises, competitions, or a variety of other opportunities. During the summer, many cadets have the opportunity to attend a variety of summer training courses. These courses range from 2 to 7 weeks and include basic cadet training (General Training), and introductory (Basic level) and advanced courses to build on and complement their leadership and instruction, drill and ceremonial, outdoor and sports training skills. Some highly coveted advanced courses include (but are not limited to) the Leadership & Challenge Course, International Rifle Team, National and International exchanges, and even the Canadian Forces Basic Parachutist Course.
