The FHDS has awarded 6 homeowners with a Grand Garden Award.

Brock Street in Fergus hosts one of these amazing gardens. One picture does not do justice to the stunning gardens that this gardener created surrounding their entire home. A walk around the grounds gives you the feeling you are on a garden tour. Well done and Congratulations!

The FDHS has awarded 6 homeowners with a Grand Garden Award.

James Frielink is proof that with a little effort anyone can create beautiful gardens in a short period of time. James started his gardening just four years ago when his front yard needed new water and sewage pipes. He took the opportunity to create beautiful gardens in front and back of their newly renovated home. James educated himself through garden centres, their websites and absorbing knowledge from anyone that he could learn from. He should be proud of what he has accomplished.
Congratulations!

The FDHS has awarded 6 homeowners with a Grand Garden Award.

Bonny Shears attributes her creative approach to her gardening experience living abroad in England, Italy, Japan and Brazil. Her magic touch and the selection of plants, shrubs and trees are proof of that. And now Fergus can enjoy the beautiful gardens she has created. Bonny has an insatiable appetite to learn everything she can, especially from “Barry at Little Tree” and other nurseries in the area; she is always full of questions. She is quick to point out that she is not a painter but expresses her creativity using her garden as her canvas.
Congratulations!

The FDHS has awarded 6 homeowners with a Grand Garden Award.

Greg Boland, pictured with his wife Shannon, is a retired professor of plant pathology at the University of Guelph. Shannon Shan is also a plant pathologist at the University of Guelph. What a great combination.

Greg bought the house in 2001 as a fixer-upper and only 4 sickly roses on the whole property. The 1/2-acre property is now full of stunning gardens. It emphasizes perennial plants of varying leaf colours and textures. Annual flowering plants in pots add to the colour, and shrubs and small trees provide vertical interest.

The FDHS has awarded 6 homeowners with Grand Garden Awards.

Fred Mallett, pictured with his wife Lesley, describes what he has created as a cottage-style garden. It’s full of pollinator-friendly perennials and ornamentals for colour and interest. It’s a hive of activity with bees and butterflies fluttering about all summer. He took up gardening after he retired and what started as a small garden has grown and continues to grow each year. He says it has become his primary occupation. The total planted area is now five times the size of the original.
Congratulations!
