Regional Tariff Response Initiative in Southern Ontario...

The Regional Tariff Response Initiative (RTRI), delivered by Canada’s regional development agencies (RDAs), is part of the broader Government of Canada tariff response plan that includes $6.5 billion in new measures to protect Canadian businesses and workers.

The $1-billion RTRI helps businesses overcome trade disruptions and includes support for businesses across all sectors, including in the steel and automotive industries. It invests in targeted, time-sensitive activities that boost productivity, lower costs, strengthen supply chain resilience, and open doors to new markets, enhancing overall competitiveness.

RTRI is intended to support businesses and sectors impacted by tariffs.

Exeter BIA is warning local businesses to be on the look out after Essex County police reported counterfeit $100 bills circulating in the area, with large retailers being targeted. Last week, six fake $100 bills were discovered at a major store.

At first glance, the bills look real, with different serial numbers. However, closer inspection shows they are missing braille, the holographic ridges can be peeled off, and the $100 number lacks the usual textured feel.

The suspect is described as a male, 20 to 27 years old, with dark hair in a bun. He was wearing white Nike running shoes with red laces and black soles. He was seen driving a black BMW with license plate DFRT 309.

With the busy holiday shopping season approaching, businesses are reminded to review their procedures for accepting large bills and to train staff on how to spot counterfeit money.
