Our club had Tiffany Peters out to do a class on marketing! She put on a great class by having us create our own sale ad and then presenting it to the club. It was a fun way to learn!! We also had Prairie Perception Photography do a lesson on livestock photography. We go to learn the dos and don’ts. We will now be ready to create our steer ads the next couple weeks for our catalogue!

Today 4 members of our club and 1 member from Browning traveled to Whitewood and competed in their 4-H Regional Judging!

We judged horses, breeding heifers, pasture, grain, rabbits and mystery item which was hiking socks.

🍀Turner and Caleb both qualified as alternatives for Provincial 4-H Senior Judging.

🍀I placed 2nd in horses and 3rd in Pasture and 2nd overall in the Intermediate age group.

🍀Rowdy placed 2nd in rabbits and 1st overall in Cloverbuds.

Waylon's favorite was a split between grain and pasture, and felt the breeding heifers class was his most challengng one.

Rowdy like the judging the rabbits and found judging pasture to be hard.

My favorite was the pasture class and found the most challenging to be the rabbit class.

Turner's favorite was judging grain, and found Judging pasture to be more of a challenge.

It was a great day!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped out on this event!!

Turner, Haylie, Waylon, Rowdy, Abigail, Audree, Laine, Leighton and Lacie attended the District #41 Judging competition. The members judged Market Lambs, Horses, Heifers, Silage, and Chore Jackets. Members were required to give oral reasons for 3 out of the 5 species.

Rowdy, Lacie and Audree all placed in their respective divisions. Turner earned a spot to the provincial judging competition.

It was a great day of learning and creating friendships with other 4-H members in our area.

I had an amazing time at the Yorkton 4-H Spring Steer and Heifer Show from April 7–9 with my commercial heifer, Pearl!

The first day kicked off with team grooming, where I was teamed up with two other intermediate members. We worked really well together and ended up placing 3rd in our class! I also got to participate in a washing clinic and learn some techniques.

The second day was busy with showmanship, judging, and the jackpot show. I made it out of my class in showmanship, although I didn’t place further. In judging, I evaluated four steers and while I didn’t place, I was really happy with how I scored. In the jackpot, I made it out of my heifer class, then went on to come out of the Commercial Heifer division and made it all the way to the final drive—such an exciting experience!

That evening, the pie auction was a huge success. My family donated a Dubai Chocolate Pie that sold for $280, with proceeds going back to support the Yorkton 4-H Show.

On the final day during the 4-H show, I placed 1st in my heifer class and went on to be named Grand Commercial Heifer. I then represented the commercial breed in the championship drive, which was definitely one of my highlights of the week.

Throughout the show, I really enjoyed helping other clubs with fitting and supporting younger members in the ring. This show helped me gain so much confidence, and I’m already looking forward to the next one!

Lacie, Cloverbud member travelled to Foam Lake where Regional Speaking was held!!

She went up in front of the BIG Crowd and presented the speech about herself!

This is her first time doing a speech so we are all very proud of how far she went!

Lacie did such a fantastic job, but she will not be advancing on to provincials.

Congrats Lacie!!!! 👏👏👏
